My apartment has a large terrace over the lake from which you can enjoy both sunrises and sunsets. The house has access to a boat/swimming dock and I have an inflatable canoe that seats 2 you are welcome to use.
The apartment is decorated with antique furniture, the bedroom is South Seas/Thai style, all rooms have lovely views of the lake, the kitchen is fully equipped except for a microwave and there is a black marble fireplace in the living room. In the summer I light candles in it, starting with autumn, logs can be burned for a warm, cozy atmosphere with hot Glühwein and books galore to read.
You are in the heart of the most beautiful part of Berlin, in Grunewald, with breathtaking ancient mansions and spectacular gardens. The Koenigssee, "Kings Lake" is one of a series of four smaller lakes all interconnected. Paddle along the shorelines for intimate views of the private gardens of Berlins most beautiful properties.
10min by car or taxi into the center of West Berlin. Several good restaurants and supermarkets are a 2 min drive or 10min walk away, the train station is a 10min walk for easy access to all parts of Berlin. Tegel Airport is a 15min taxi ride away.
There will be a 100€ fee for cleaning after departure, due upon arrival. We do not have life jackets, so please bring your own if this is an issue. The lake is safe to swim in, the water is clean. Some summers we have a bit of detached underwater plant growth - just push it to the side if you encounter any on your morning swim. If you come in the winter, you may get lucky if the lake is frozen - covered in snow it looks like a fairy tale.
Please understand that I will accept only stays of 5 days or longer at this property. Due to the many antiques, sculptures and artwork only suited for adults. No pets.
“Beautiful apartment in a great area. On the outskirts of Berlin but easy to get into the centre. Loved the sun terrace and lake views. Barbara was very clear about the bed being a sofa bed . We found it uncomfortable for 2 people for 7 nights but think it would be fine for one person or a shorter stay”
“My 9 day stay at Barbara's was great. For starters dealing with Barbara was a pleasure. She was incredibly helpful, always asking if I needed something, providing a fan when there was an exceptional heatwave and even taking me out on the lakes on the inflatable canoe. The is very comfortable, large, very clean and has a terrace that overlooks one of a series of 3 connected lakes. The area is very beautiful, with wonderful old houses. It's only a 5/10 minute walk from the subway which takes you directly in approximately 15/20 minutes to Central Station or in less than 10 minutes to Charlottenburg. It's also very close to Berlin Tegel airport. There's a nice and well stocked supermarket near the subway, as well as some restaurants and cafes. You can swim in the lake if it's warm or take out the canoe and visit the 2 other lakes. I would highly recommend staying in Barbara's apartment. ”
