About our home

Welcome to our beautiful and full of light flat in Berlin! We have been living & working in Berlin for over 3 years, and living in Charlottenburg most of the time. We love the area, and we were so lucky to find this amazing flat at the beginning of the year. Since we moved in, we've been working on making it home, and we're super happy to share it with people around the world who would like to get the Berlin experience and still enjoy the cozy feeling of being at home.

Life (or holidays) in Berlin is perfect for pretty much everyone. It's a city of contrasts, with as much culture as party opportunities. There's nature all around it (and specially close to where we live) but there is so much going on around the city center. It is really a city where you can chose what you want to experience on a daily basis. We live in the West of Berlin, but have perfect connections to all other areas. We live next to an S-Bahn and an U-Bahn station, and we have many buses going from our place to the city center (and to Tegel airport! only 10 min away!). After more than 3 years living here, we have many (many!) tips and recommendations for you. From restaurants to theaters and music bars, whatever you'd like to know, we will probably be able to recommend! Lucía has a side job as a fitness instructor in a boutique spinning studio in Berlin (ride.bln) and is also very active in trying new sports and studios (yoga, pilates, you name it, I love it!), so let us know if you'd also like to get some recommendations on where to work out during your stay!

This penthouse was the perfect find for us as a couple. We were looking for a place that felt open, where we could see and smell the nature (we live very close to the Schlosspark Charlottenburg), but also where we could have privacy and the ability to have people over for dinner, or even to stay with us. We love the size of the apartment (65 square meters inside, around 25 square meters of terrace). It's perfect for 2-3 people to feel at home and still have space to chill separately and enjoy some quiet time reading, cooking, or just sitting outside enjoying the sunshine.

The flat consists of a spacious master bedroom, with an ensuite big, recently renovated bathroom. There is also a toilet, separate from the bedroom, which is perfect in the case you're travelling as a family or group of 3. We have a small studio adjacent to the living room, which an individual (very comfortable!) sofa bed. We have installed some blinds in the studio so that the guest can have some privacy while sleeping. The kitchen is big and it invites for cooking together. The amount of times we've had people for dinner and it was hard to get them out of the kitchen and sited in the dinning table! It really is a house that invites cozy and chilled plans, There are plenty of (free) parking options around the area - we have a car ourselves and find parking spots in our block every day.

We've both had home swap experiences with our family and friends, and therefore decided to put our lovely flat here in the platform as soon as it was furnished and ready to be swapped! We love travelling, and really getting to know different places. We like to travel slow, spending some time in the city / area, and getting a good feeling for how normal life would be there. We come from very different places (Michael comes from a very small village in Belgium, I come from the city center of Sevilla) and we're very open to travelling pretty much anywhere. We are respectful with other people's homes, and of course know that you will be respectful with our flat too :)

More about us

  1. We're a Belgium-Spanish couple that met & lives in Berlin. We love travelling and would love to do a bigger trip at some point in 2021, but we've decided to restrict our 2020 travelling to Europe.

  2. Lucía works in finance for a multinational, Michael is an renewable energy engineer and works in a start up.

  3. We both are very active and curious people - Berlin is a perfect match for us right now! We love cooking, coffee, wine & everything that has to do with being active and outdoor. Lucía loves art, cultural events and reading. Michael enjoys playing tennis, volleyball and meeting new people. Whether it's discovering a new city or enjoying the nature, we like enjoying our time away from home connecting to a new place. Home is very important for us, so we are very respectful and careful about other people's homes too!

Where is it?

For those who've already been in Berlin, it'll be no secret to hear that Charlottenburg is one of the coziest, welcoming & full of culture corners of the city. We decided to live close to the Charlottenburg Schlosspark, and to the Spree (river) because of the nature-like feeling, while living in the middle of a buzzing city. Going for a long run, enjoying some time in the sun, walking for's the perfect neighborhood to calm down and reconnect, and yet our home is close to many places to enjoy a bit of activity and cultural events. On top of that, our corner is perfectly connected to the rest of this big city - we live in an S-Bahn ring station (S+U Jungfernheide) and in the U7 U-bahn line (U Mierendorffplatz). We also have several bus lines with stops around our flat that take you directly to Kurfürstendamm (for the shopping lovers), to Zoologischer garten (full of art galleries, museums, and of course the Zoo & Tiergarten in Berlin) or even to Tegel airport (15 minutes away from our flat by bus).

Buzzy restaurants
Charlottenburg is full of good restaurants - from cheap to fancy, you name it, we have it! - and amazing bars to enjoy an evening out. Let us know what you'd like to try and we'll recommend you places you'll love!
Cozy cafés
There's nothing I love more than recommending Cafés. Just to drink coffee, or to sit down and enjoying reading a book as the perfect slow morning plan. We'll leave you plenty of recommendations in a small Berlin guide at home!
Retail therapy
Kurfürstendamm is always a good choice for a shopping spree. It's known for the high fashion part, but what not a lot of people know is that there are also more affordable every-day shops in the street! You just need to know what to look for. If second hand is more your style, I can also recommend a few good stores in the neighborhood.
Bit of culture
Where to start mention a few, but some of my favourites: Deutsche Oper, C/O Berlin, Delphi Lux Kino (for a cinema evening, with movies in original version too!), and the Schloss Charlottenburg!
Walks in the park
Schlosspark Charlottenburg is a must in Berlin, and it's just across the street from us! You can also enjoy a walk next to the river to the Charlottenburg Brücke, and to Tiergarten.
Spot of exercise
I love long runs in the Schlosspark, or even going to Tiergarten. There are also beautiful routes from our place direction Spandau that we could recommend you if you're into long runs outside of the city.
Day tripping
There's so much to do close to this spot - from Potsdam to lakes if it's sunny, and of course the Spandau Zitadelle! Let us know what you're into and we'll recommend you ways of enjoying the surroundings of Berlin.
