My apartment is in a quiet, yet very central, corner of the Neukoelln neighbourhood in Berlin. Neukolln in recent years has become a very popular place to live with many galleries, cafes, bars and restaurants opening seemingly everyday. The apartment is situated right along the canal which is a great place to walk along, especially in the summer. There is a park across the road from the apartment and a cafe next door with many, many bars and restaurants within a 10 minute walk.
The apartment itself 67sqm in size. It's divided into a large living room, a kitchen, a bathroom and a bedroom. The ceilings are high and the walls are thick so usually you can't hear anything from the neighbours. The building is what's known as an 'Alt-Bau' (literally translates to 'Old-Buildin'). Alt-Baus are the most desirable type of building in Berlin due to the high ceilings, original stucco and wooden floors. The building has character but it is in good condition. The windows were replaced a few years ago, now they are all modern double glazing.
