“J'aimerais particulièrement recommander l'échange chez Kurt et Norma à Bad Godesberg à la fois pour l'appartement qui est superbe dans un très beau quartier et pour les hôtes qui sont des personnes dont tout le monde aimerait faire la connaissance. Ils sont vraiment charmants, interessants et très courtois, pour tout dire j'aimerais les compter parmi mes amis.”
Kurt's reviewsAs a host (7)
“We've just had a fantastic four day exchange with the owners of this lovely late 19th century apartment. A very comfortable, clean and cosy home, situated in a nice and quiet area just a few steps from the river Rhine and very easy to reach by train or metro. Every morning we were able to wake up to the sound of the birds in the gardens behind the house. After a good breakfast, we went out by bike and paddled along the park-like riverbanks towards Bonn or the surrounding area (e.g. Konigswinter / Drachenfels). We particularly enjoyed Bonn's modern art museums and the museum of German history. And thanks to the excellent recommendations of our hosts, we've visited some really nice restaurants. It was a great pleasure to meet up with our hosts at the start of our stay and get some inside information about the area! They are extremely helpful and kind and have taken very good care of our own apartment in Amsterdam.”
“Nous avons eu beaucoup de plaisir à passer quelques jours dans ce bel appartement: immeuble classé plein de charme dans un quartier très calme, jardin féerique et chants d'oiseaux. À recommander sans aucune hésitation pour les amateurs d'architecture et d'art - nombreux musées à proximité. Bons transports publics et magasins à 5 minutes de marche.”
“We loved the apartment (very special with high ceilings and a conservatory overlooking the garden) which is in a house from the 19th century in an area with lots of lovely villas. We also thought the big gardens are especially beautiful. The public transport is excellent so we could visit Bonn and the surrounding area very easily. We like to meet our exchange partners so we were glad to spend an evening with Kurt in Vienna at the beginning of the exchange. We still keep in touch via email. Helene”
“We had a great time in the apartment of Norma & Kurt. A clean and cosy house with everything you need. The city of Bonn is nearby by train or U-bahn. We did a variety of activities: a beautiful trip by bike along the Rhein, citywalks throughout Bonn, a visit to Haus der Geschichte and Bundes Kunst Halle (interesting musea), a visit to Bahnhof Rolandseck (great view and good wine), a nice walk through Kottenforst, and a concert in Harmonie with a combination of jazz and variationen of Beethoven. Thanks to Kurt and Norma for their information and pleasant contact. ”
“Kurt and Norma are wonderful hosts, and their apartment is better than what you get from the pictures. Their apartment is a 5 minute walk from Bonn-Bad Godesberg Train and Underground station. The cosy suburb of Bad Godesberg offers the opportunity to enjoy the river Rhein promenade and the relaxing riverside. If you miss the city life, Bonn is less than 5 minutes away, Cologne is approx. 30 minutes, Düsseldorf need 1 hour trip. Kurt and Norma are wonderful organizers and experienced exchangers. Every detail was planned and arranged in advance, and their suggestions are precious.”
“Un appartement rafiné dans une maison élégante au coeur d'un quartier agréable et calme accessible facilement par les transports en commun depuis l'aéroport. Permet de visiter aisément par le train Cologne et ses magnifiques musées ainsi que Coblence plus au sud. Pour la vallée du Rhin proprement dite une voiture, non incluse dans l'échange, s'avère nécessaire. Au retour nous avons retrouvé notre maison impécable, la seule trace du passage de Norma et Kurt étant un bouquet de fleurs ...”
Where is it?
It is just 100 yards to the next subway station and the pedestrian area. Thus, everything is within walking distance - shops, drugstores, markets, cinemas. Bonn, birthplace of Ludwig van Beethoven, is full of culture - his birthhouse, theatre, concert hall, museums etc. Easily reachable via Bonn-Cologne Airport, just 16 miles away, with cheap airlines flying to all destinations in Europe - www.germanwings.com and www.tuifly.com. From here you can start boattrips up the Romantic Rhine (where Lord Byron and William Turner already toured), to Cologne (the cathedral there being the single-most visited tourist attraction in the whole of Germany) or to the Loreley Rock near Koblenz, from there up the Moselle. You will love it!
