About our home

We live in a large, modern home that we built 4 years ago. We have 5 bedrooms (2 with double beds and 3 with single beds), an open plan kitchen, lounge and dining room, a wood burning stove, three terraces, a garden, a bathroom and a WC. The house is on the edge of town, in front of the fields and local vineyards. We live in a wine growing region. Summers are generally hot (28 degrees plus). In summer, late Spring and early Autumn you can eat outside on the terraces and enjoy the countryside. We are well set up for young children; having lots of toys, scooters, bikes, a sand pit, a football goal and a garden trampoline. It's very quiet where we live.

More about us

  1. We are both teachers. My husband is German and I am Scottish. I work at the European School in Karlsruhe. We have three boys, aged 10, 7 and 5. We are non-smokers and enjoy cycling, swimming and walking. For our house swap, we would like to be in a quiet place, perhaps near the beach in summer, or in the moutains in winter. We are a responsible family and would take good care of your home. We would also be very happy to offer advice and tips on our area and would be happy to swap cars.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Bruchsal has 40 000 inhabitants, a Baroque palace, a cinema, a large, open air pool complex and lots of shops and bars. There are some pretty historic buildings, including a Barock church and the Barock Palace and museum. There is an excellent market twice a week and a good selection of beer gardens. Bruchsal is well situated with good rail links. We are about 20 minutes from the romantic city of Heidelberg and 15 minutes from Karlsruhe. The Pfalz (a wine area on the French border with very pretty villages) is 30 minutes to the west and the Black forest starts 30 minutes to the south. The area has much to offer in terms of culture, walking, swimming and cycling.
