About our home

After two years of intensive planning and construction, we moved into our new home in December 2019. The modern, detached single-family house was built individually according to the planning of a Munich architect (www.eneff-architekten.de/haus-in-der-eichenau). It is near the forest at the end of a small, very quiet private road with only 4 houses. The split level house is designed very modern and minimalist. The huge windows, the very high ceilings and the wooden floors create a bright and friendly living environment. Light acoustic panels made of real wood on the ceilings in the living and dining areas optimize the room acoustics. Underfloor heating ensures pleasant warmth and cold throughout the house. In addition, a modern fireplace provides cozy warmth in winter. The upper floor can be reached via an exposed concrete cube. It houses a parents' area on the first mezzanine with its own bathroom and dressing room. On the second level on the first floor there are two spacious children's rooms with a gallery and a cozy reading room with a wonderful view of the green surroundings. The children's bathroom and the third children's room are on the next higher level. If you climb the stairs even higher, you will find a small study under the roof.
The open kitchen with cooking island on the ground floor is modern, minimalist and of high quality. All the built-in furniture was individually designed by the architect and made from solid oak by a carpenter. The tunnel fireplace is located between the spacious dining room and the cozy living room. There is also a third bathroom and study and bedroom on the ground floor. An aerial space between the ground floor and the basement brings additional daylight into the hobby room and has a hammock to relax. The hobby room has table football, fitness machine, piano and drums as well as a modern home cinema with projector, DVD, Dolby Digital sound, digital TV and Xbox. In the basement there is also a small guest room with a double bed and a large room with a washing machine and dryer.

The table tennis table can be used in the courtyard. The garden has a large terrace with high quality garden furniture. The brand new, large garden trampoline and the modern gas barbecue can also be used. Mowing the lawn is not necessary, the robotic lawnmower does that.

We have three Greek tortoises in the outdoor enclosure. To watch them on their forays through their area in summer is simply wonderful. Since they live completely self-sufficient, no maintenance is necessary. The family also includes two beautiful, cuddly cats (Maine Coons) who are happy to be cuddled and fed. If you have a problem with this, we'll find another solution.

Although we live so close to Munich, it is very quiet and green here. You can reach Munich city center in just 20 minutes by public transport (S-Bahn) or by car. The Eichenau train station is only a 10-minute walk away and offers the best connection to Munich city center.

Many sights and leisure activities await you there. In terms of culture, Munich really has everything to offer with its great theaters, operas, concert halls and museums. A visit to the English Garden is also worthwhile at any time of the year. An endless selection of different restaurants, bars and clubs round off a visit to this lovely city.

Eichenau itself has a good infrastructure. Shops, supermarkets, doctors, pharmacies and restaurants are all within walking distance. There are various playgrounds for children. An ice cream parlor in the town center and a beautiful bathing lake provide refreshment in summer.

In the immediate vicinity of Eichenau there are many famous destinations (Ammersee, Starnberg Lake, Andechs Monastery, Herrenchiemsee Castle, Linderhof Castle, Zugspitze, Neuschwanstein Castle, Berchtesgaden Salt Mine, Tegernsee, Chiemsee, Königssee, FC Bayern Allianz Arena and much more). The nearby foothills of the Alps are a popular destination for hikers and cyclists.

If you are looking for something special and have a penchant for modern, extraordinary architecture, then this house will surely inspire you.
