About our home

We life in a 4-room apartment (ca. 86 m²) on the groundfloor with a balcony directly opening to a small garden (which continues into a huge lawn). The steps down to the garden are the only ones in the apartment but for being wheel-chair accessible probably some of the doors are too narrow.
We are the only apartment of the house using the garden area. The house hosts 12 parties, some are owners of their apartments, some are renters (like we are). The house is clean and quiet. No traffic noise. Most views from our windows go to trees and this lawn.
The living room is next to the kitchen and provides also the dining table and of course a sofa. The sofa can be extended into a double bed (rather comfy). The kids’ room includes a bunk bed (for two persons) and plenty of toys. The two other bedrooms provide a double bed each.
We don’t have a TV but CD and radio, and internet connection (lan-based, no wireless).

Features

More about us

  1. We are a family with two boys (5, 8) and two mothers in the forties. Kerstin works in the public health administration, Ilke is self-employed as a mediator for conflicts at work / business. Travelling is much fun for us when we camp and we also went to some holiday apartments in Sweden, Denmark, Mexico or Italy. Water is important to us: we love being on the beach, swimming, canoeing, diving…. Which sea or lake is not too important for us: we are looking forward to experience our first home exchange!
Our very friendly cat loves company as well as the freedom to stroll around in the garden. It would be very convenient if we could exchange home with someone taking care of her (not a must).

Neighbourhood

Kleefeld is a district of Hannover with a very diverse neighbourhood, from Villa to apartment blocks. We life at the end of a small street, in the only apartment of the house using the garden area. The house hosts 12 parties, some are owners of their apartments, some are renters (like we are). The house is clean and quiet. No traffic noise. Kleefeld offers full services, even a small market on Thursdays.

You can take the bike downtown (25 min), thereby enjoying one of Europe’s largest urban forest, the Eilenriede. From the apartment, it is about 10 min walk to a regional train station – e.g. connecting in 7 min to downtown of Hannover. You don’t need a car in Hannover – we don’t have one but get perfectly around by public transport or bikes. A very nice open air swimming pool is about 10 min by bike.
Hannover hosts plenty of museums, a large zoo, festivals (e.g. international fireworks competition in the “baroque atmosphere of the Herrenhaus gardens”), and other attractions. If you want to explore the surroundings beyond the city of Hannover, however, you might think about a hiring a car (there is a cheap car rental station down the street from our house). For example the Steinhuder Meer is not only a nice lake to go but neighbours a really interesting outdoor-museum for anything connected to dinosaurs. Also one hour by car is a big Safari park where you drive directly next to the animals. If you need an even bigger town, the train connects you to Berlin in less than two hours.
