About our home

Our house was built in 1978, is situated in Hauptendorf, a quiet village , near herzogenaurach, home of the founder of the famous Adidas brand Adi Dassler. it is an attractive family home that comfortably sleeps 6, but wuth a guest bed, could sleep another 2 easily. It has a large kid friendly garden , 2 modern bathrooms, and a recently renovated kitchen. we have underfloor heating and a nice wood burning fire place.
There is a cellar in the basement with a home cinema and a bar. The area is a great base for exploring Bavaria, czech republic and Austria is only 3 house away. Munich 1.5! You can even drive to Italy in 6 hours.

Neighbourhood

We live in a very quiet area , in a sleepy little village, very little traffic passes our door. There are lovely walks cycle paths minuets away! We are in the heart of Franconia, which is a beautiful part of upper Bavaria. Our nearest village Herzogenaurach is a medieval settlement with a quaint centre and many restaurants and bars. We are also 15 k from Erlangen, home of the second biggest beer fest in Germany, and only 20k from Nurenburg, ancient capital of the Holy Roman Emperors and a fascinating city to walk round and dine in!

Buzzy restaurants
Frankischer Hof, typical Franconian food with a modern twist, good steaks and burgers. Kleine Welt, excellent steak Restaurant, many Italian places to eat and drink as well. Nurnburg and Erlangen have sushi and a whole range of international restaurants.
Cool bars
The Ratz keller.
Cozy cafés

Bit of culture
The whole area is steeped in it, the castle or Burg in Nurnburg is a must. Prague is only a few hours away by car, and on a good day you can drive down to Lake Garda in Italy in about 6 hours.
Walks in the park
everywhere....the Frankischerschweiss or Franconian Switzerland is a great area for camping or walikng, the area is inundated with Spas and wellnsss centers which are a great way to relax.
Spot of exercise
Atlantis , great pool, sauna area for the kids, biking is amust and you dont even have to go on any main roads. In winter you can ski about 1.5 hours away, Austria can be reached in a few hours as well.
Day tripping
Bamberg, an absolute gem of a city about 1 hour away , by car or train.......the area has a wealth of Weinachtsmarkts, or Christmas which make it a very special place at this time of year..Munich only 1.5 hours away as well.
