About our home

We have a charming flat located in the hip and vibrant neighbourhood "Südstadt" (south-city), close to the very centre of Cologne. The flat is 110 square metres (approx 1200 square feet), and consists of: - kitchen with dining area -bedroom with comfortable american style double-bed, living room with two sofas -library. Nearly unchanged since 1900, fabulous guilded ceiling -offices with two desks, one can be used as bedroom, green courtyard, equipped with table and chairs. The flat is bright with wooden floors, and furnished with classic furniture plus charming older furniture. It is quiet and cosy. There is high-speed WLAN internet access in the apartment. The flat was originally the home of the owner of the building (from 1900), and the rooms, the ceilings and many other historic details have been left unchanged since the construction of the house. Washer/dryer in the kitchen.

More about us

  1. We are a couple in their end thirties, lawyer and teacher, both working and relying on school holidays. We like to travel and explore new cities and cultures and prefer discovering other countries from a more local perspective than the pure tourist thing. Never done homeexchange so far but looking forward to hear from you.

Neighbourhood

Cologne "Südstadt" is one of the liveliest and most hip neighbourhoods in Cologne. Home to students, artists and families, cafés, restaurants, designer and antique shops, it is one of the neighbourhoods in Cologne to see, yet relatively unnoticed by tourists. It is a neighbourhood with buildings from the late 19th/early 20th Centuries. There are green areas and parks, large supermarkets and several small shops just a minute's walk from the flat. Our flat is about ten minutes by public transport or bike (or 20 minutes by feet along the river bank) from the very centre of Cologne, with its pedestrian streets and ancient houses, so the rest of Cologne and surroundings are easily accessible. The people of Cologne are always merry and relaxed, not just during the world-famous carnival season. Their straightforward jovial way of life attracts visitors to the city.
