About our home

Our home is a nice and quite small 5th floor apartement in an interesting, safe and modern district of Berlin, called "Kreuzberg". The apartment block was built as part of an historic ensemble in wilheminian style, so called "Gründerzeit". Our flat is cosy, bright and well furnished, with wooden floors throughout; unfortunately the building does not have an elevator. Within 62 qm you find the living room with a dining area and a terrace with a lot of plants. We have one bedroom with a double bed (160 x 200 cm) and a small study with a single bed and a highspeed-internet-computer. Furthermore you find a small but fully - equipped kitchen and a bathroom with a shower/tub combo and a washing machine.

More about us

  1. We are a middle-aged couple, I am an economy-manager of a home for handicaped people and my husband works as a whole-sale-purchaser for food. We have taken part in successful home exchanges to Amsterdam, Barcelona and Paris before and we think it is a wunderful, interesting and cost effective way to travel, and a nice way to make friends around the world. We love our home and we will take care of other's homes as we will take care of our own. Normally we travel as a couple, but sometimes my brother accompanies us.

Where is it?

We are living in the center of Berlin in one of the lively and multicultural quarters of Berlin, called "Bergmannkiez". The apartment is ideally located as a base from which you can discover Berlin. Within a one block radius there are two metro-trains and three busses, so you'll have easy acccess to every part of the city. With public traffic or by foot you can reach the major tourist attractions, for example Checkpoint Charlie (1,7 km); Brandenburg Gate (2,9 km) and Potsdamer Platz (2,2 km). Just outside you'll find a variety of different cafes, restaurants and bistros, where all kinds of cuisines are available. If you like to cook for yourself, there is a historic indoor market nearby, three big organic grocery stores and other stores and supermarkets (open until 8:00 to 24:00). There are also several bicycle - rental shops, cinemas and cabarets, an indoor playground for children, gyms and everything you need for a varied and joyful stay.
