More about us

  1. I'm Shameem, a 47 year old widow from London working as an English teacher. My 21 year old son has just graduated from university in London, and my 19 year old daughter is at university in Scotland, so they may or may not join me. I also have an 8 year old daughter who will join me, she is very well behaved and sensible. We are clean and tidy, peaceful, intelligent people and would take great care of other peoples homes, although we're most likely to be out and about whilst away. We are used to travelling a lot. This will be our first home exchange so we're very excited about it and anxious to make a good impression.

Where is it?

Leipzig is a historic, cultural city and famous for the Nikolai Kirche where the peaceful candlelit vigils each Monday started the protests that lead to the fall of the Berlin wall. Wagner was born here, Bach was Mayor and Mendleson died here. Karl Marx and Goethe studied at Leipzig University. There's plenty to do for both adults and children. The trams are frequent, efficient and within walking distance. The city centre is withing walking distance as are large parks, playgrounds and Leipzig Zoo. It's flat so fine for cycling around and very safe. There are theatres, concerts, cinemas, etc. Leipzig Arena (10 mins away), swimming, bowling, many bistros and restaurants, Opera (gewandhaus) classical and ballet. The Moritz Bastei is famous for concerts and Leipzig has the largest train station in Europe. Berlin is 1 hr, 10 mins away by car or ICE train. Dresden is a neighbouring city also in the state of Saxony (Sachsen). Prague is 4 hrs away by train. Leipzig was recently voted as one of the top 20 places to visit n the world, coming ahead of LA.
