Our home is very spacious and bright. Many people comment on how open the whole place feels when they come to visit. The building is very old,the front part of the building was probably remodeled in the late 1800's. There is original stucco design along the ceiling in what used to be a salon but is now our office. We keep things very minimal and there is no clutter around the place. The atmosphere is very peaceful and quiet despite the fact that the apartment is located in the center of the city. We have a large flat screen TV and DVD player. Also for use is a Hi-Fi system. The kitchen is open and bright with plenty of space to work with. The apartment has a very large foyer and bedroom. The bedroom window faces a small yard which one can enjoy if one wants a little bit of relax time. The air that comes from that window is unusually fresh we've noticed. There is also a bathroom with a bathtub/shower and plenty of space for cosmetics and such. The apartment has wood laminate flooring throughout except for the bathroom which is tiled.
We are a married couple. I(Holly) am an American vocal coach and musician and my husband(Mieszko) is a German actor. We are very responsible and take care of our apartment. We like to think we have taste and tact and we are very tidy people. Our place will be perfectly clean when you arrive and we will leave your home very tidy, clean, and in order. We really look forward to doing our first home exchange!
The city of Lübeck is unlike any other. This city is both interesting and yet it has the wind-down feeling of a small village at times. One never needs to use a car because the trainstation is a 10-15 minute walk away or a 5 euro taxi away and all other stores are within very close walking distance. Some parts of the city date back to medieval times! The Hanseatic City of Lübeck is the second largest city in Schleswig-Holstein, in northern Germany, and one of the major ports of Germany. It was for several centuries the "capital" of the Hanseatic League ("Queen of the Hanse") and because of its Brick Gothic architectural heritage is on UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites. Situated at the Trave River, Lübeck is the largest German port on the Baltic Sea. The old part of the town is an island enclosed by the Trave, our apartment is right on this island called "altstadt" or "the old city". Autobahn 1 connects Lübeck with Hamburg and Denmark (Vogelfluglinie). The borough Travemünde is a sea resort and ferry port at the coast of the Baltic Sea. On a weekend the city is bustling and full of fun places to go out to eat. We have many tips if you want to travel around the area. Nearby is the island of Fehmarn which is very beautiful and relaxing.
