Our beautiful house is located in a small village which is part of the famous wine region 'Ahrtal'.
It is surrounded by hills, forests and wineyards and beautiful hiking tracks. In the river 'Ahr' which gives the region it's name, you can go for a swim to cool down in summer, or do kayaking etc.
In the 'Winzergenossenschaft Mayschoß', the oldest winegrowers cooperative of the world, you can try and buy amazing local wine, stroll though the winecellars or sit on the wine terrace.
Furthermore, every village in the region has his own wines and there are a lot of wine manufactories to explore.
You can also treat yourself to some fine food, there are heaps of amazing restaurants around but If you prefer cooking yourself there are also supermarkets and grocery stores 10min. away.
For kids, the Ahrtal, and our village is a perfect place. We have goats in right front of our house, which are owned by our neighbours, so you can always feed and watch them. There is also a horse stable only 300m away.
In the nearest town 'Bad Neuenahr-Ahweiler' theres a climbing park in the forest which is a fun family activity to do. There is also a long and well developed bicycle path along the Ahr and through all the beautiful villages and spots.
You also have access to public transportation such as a train station which is a 7min. walk from our house. You can catch a train from there which brings you directly to Bonn, the former capital city of Germany, in 45min. By car, it would take you 25min. to Bonn and 40 min. to Cologne. Having those two beautiful and vibrant cities around, makes it very hard to get bored. Cologne is a media city and there are always parties, concerts and other events going on. It also has a huge art scene.
If you are interested in culture and history, you should definetly visit all the medieval romantic castles like 'Schloss Drachenburg', 'Burg Els', 'Brug Rheinstein' and a lot more which you can find all along the river 'Rhein'.
You can't even list all the things to do in and around our hometown but It should be clear that there's something for everybody to do and you could have a unique experience in our lovely home.
If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask! We want you to feel like home and will do everything to make you feel comfortable :)
