About our home

A deluxe apartment in the centre of Berlin. The building dates from 1870 - which for Berlin is very old - and was gutted and fully renovated in 2014. The apartment was constructed to my own specification, which was essentially to make it like a luxurious hotel suite! Very well equipped - includes eg: bathroom with steam shower, large bath, underfloor heating; oak parquet flooring throughout; a Bulthaup kitchen; high end bespoke furniture; very comfortable beds with orthopaedic mattresses (the same type as used by Soho House); original paintings by Berlin artists etc etc. There's a quiet balcony big enough for 3 to sit on, and the bedrooms face onto a very quiet internal courtyard. There's a lift, and although not tested the apartment would probably work well for someone with impaired mobility. The location is one of the most sought after residential streets in Berlin, and most of Berlin's main attractions are within a short walk.

Sleeps 4 (one double bedroom, one single bedroom and one - very comfortable fully sprung - single sofa bed in the living room). Apartment is reasonably child proof, and well behaved children welcome, For smaller kids we have a cot, Tripp Trapp chair, baby changing table, and a good robust pram available for use, as well as various child toys and kitchen items.

Where is it?

A very quiet street of 19th century houses in the middle of "Berlin Mitte" - the centre of former East Berlin. The neighbourhood is buzzing, with shops, galleries, bars, clubs etc. Although I keep a car in Berlin I only use it for getting out of the city, almost everywhere you would want to go is within walking or biking distance. Many of Berlin's main attractions are very close by - eg: the museum island is less than 5 minute's walk; the Reichstag, Alexanderplatz etc are all close by. At the end of the street is Hackeshermarkt - 7 connected courtyards dating from the early 20th century full of shops and cafes. Public transport links are great, the Hauptbahnhof is 3 stops on the S-Bahn or 5 minutes in a taxi; the new Berlin Brandenburg airport is less than 30 minutes away door to door.
