About our home

We are a family with two children. Our flat is in the very centre of Berlin-Mitte. You will find plenty of restaurants, art house cinemas, the Gendarmenmarkt concert hall, the opera, bars, many touristic sight (e.g. Alexanderplatz), shops etc. in walking distance. If you want to explore the rest of the city, you will find public transport in all directions: U Rosa Luxemburg-Platz (U2/Tram), Hackescher Markt (S-Bahn), Weinmeisterstraße (U8) . Subway to X-Berg: 10 Minutes, S-Bahn to central station 5 Minutes, Berlin Zoo 13 minutes etc.. Even though it is central, there is a little park right across the street with a playground, beach volley ball, table tennis...., and the parents bedroom is very quiet to the back yard. The furniture is a mix of flee market stuff, design classics, self made closets and antiques - not perfect at all, but there is fine bathroom and an extra guest toilet, high speed WIFI, printer, many books (some in English), classical music score, a nice grand piano (also for professional use), a large flatscreen TV, a lot of games for the children etc., the surface is more than 120 square meters. Children are very welcome. Also classical musicians. We have a piano and a grand piano and it can be played late at night (till midnight). Our flat is not superfancy, but it is very charming, nice views, creative and spacious and of course best located.

Where is it?

Centre of Berlin (old Berlin Mitte): Near Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt: museums, operahouse, theaters, galleries, many shops and Restaurants. The neighborhood is very popular, the residents are a vivid International mix of creatives, business people, academics, families. Many young people and tourists visit the area for shopping, eating out and clubbing.
You will also find alternative spots: many organic supermarkets, vegan restaurants, second hand shops, flee markets (famous Mauerpark is only a 20 minutes walk), bars, off-cinemas (with movies in the original language) or Clärchens Ballhaus - the traditional eastgerman dancing club for mixed ages (60+ is just as welcome there as twens!!!).

(old) Berlin Mitte: You might want to stay in the neighborhood, but wherever you want to go within the city, you will easily reach it with S- and U-Bahn from here, as it is a junction of the major lines: U8 / U2 / Est-West-S-Bahn / North-South-S-Bahn / various Trams and Busses.

Specialty in my street is the little park opposite the house, where you can play beach volley ball and table tennis or just enjoy the coffee you cooked upstairs. You will meet many foreign visitors in the street. Shops and Restaurants assist in English and German.

The area is also very safe and childfriendly with many playgrounds and there is even a child's public swimming pool in Monbijou-Park (15 min. walk)
