About our home

We are a friendly family of five from Germany, Neckargemuend a district of Heidelberg located within the famous Rhine Neckar Metropolitan Region. We have to offer for the holiday house swap idea a typical German standard 4 bedroom house averaged spread in three floors.
The ground floor can be entranced from our small garden through the conservatory or through the stairs from the first floor. The conservatory is used as home office. Internet is everywhere available in the house. On the ground floor there is one large sized bedroom with enclosed little bathroom. This room is the bedroom of our oldest teenage son. It has one single bed but also a studio couch and lots of boyish games. Also on the ground floor there is a small storage room; with the washing machine and tumble dryer.
On the first floor there is the main entrance of the house with a small entrance hall, single WC, a small kitchen with American fridge/freezer (inc. drink water and ice dispenser), cooker, oven, dishwasher, smoothie maker, microwave and kitchen stuff. On this floor is also the living room with dining area, flat screen TV & Sky (English Language), DVD Player and Wii console with a variety of family & sport games. The living room has very large French doors which lead to the balcony. We think that’s the best bit of the house, if you sit on the couch in the living room or on the balcony than you will have a stunning view from the wood land of the `Neckar Valley`. For mild summer evenings the balcony provides a small sitting area and a George Foreman grill.
On the second floor is the master bedroom, the family bath and a large play room with lots of toys suitable for young children and babies. There are also two toddler beds, a studio couch and flat screen with British TV program. This room has also large French doors with enclosed balcony and the same stunning outdoor view. On the balcony there is a small sand & water play area for kids.

Neighbourhood

The house is situated in a family friendly area and you will have just 5 minutes walk distance to the beautiful wood land of the `Neckar Valley`. Across the street there are a wood land playground and a soccer play area for kids. The public bus stop for Heidelberg City centre and to the local groceries store is 5 minutes walk distance only. The public suburban traffic network is well developed, and from our house you will have a 15 minutes’ walk to the train station (S Bahn). The well-developed infrastructure links the cities and surrounding villages. Travel time to and from the country to the city is short. By Train you will be in Heidelberg in about 15 minutes (by bus in about 30min), you can be in Mannheim in about 30- 40 minutes and to Frankfurt, Stuttgart or Karlsruhe you will need about 1,5 hour. There are countless reasons to come to the metropolitan Rhine Neckar region. It offers plenty of opportunities from discovering unique old historical castles, forts and ruins, amongst others also river cruises, wine & medieval festivals, amusement parks, and visits to the famous car racing track `Hockenheimring` or the magical Christmas market in Heidelberg. There are also a variety of pathways for walking and bikers across the beautiful landscape & along the River `Rhine/Neckar. Experience a world full of architectural, culinary and cultural high points. The region is politically and economically very stable and the crime rate is comparatively low. It’s not New York City but the Rhine Neckar Metropolitan Region has a lovely nightlife too, especially in Heidelberg. It is easy to get in touch with people in some of the nice little bars or "Weinstuben". And if you have to have a Guinness or other "non-German" beverages: no problem there are Irish pubs, Caribbean bars, Mexican restaurants.....One thing is certain: the word "boring" will not exist in your vocabulary when you decide to visit this region.
