“If you like walking in the hills through the forests of the Teutoburgerwald the house of Alexander and Barbara is a wonderful and relaxing place to start your holiday. We made several trips to explore the area, we visited the old city-centre of Osnabruck for shopping, visited the modern museum and restaurants. Nearby Osnabruck we went to the Spa-cities like Bad Iburg and Bad Essen. Near the house there are several forests. A bit further away is the Teutoburgerwald. If you prefer cycling, the hills are not very steep and the views magnificent. Even the city center is easy within reach. Our hosts did there utmost to make us feel at home in their house with plenty of space inside, a playroom for the kids and a lovely garden with a large sandpit. We enjoyed the calm neighbourhood with both the city and the forests nearby. We thank Alexander and Barbara for their hospitality, we had a lovely holiday in Osnabruck!”

“Aanbeveling: In summer 2014 we had our first home swap with Alexander and Barbara, both experienced exchangers. During our e-mail contact previous to the exchange we could benefit of their experience. We met Alexander and Barbara and their two children in Osnabruck for a tour in their house and a cup of coffee. We really appreciated this personal contact before they went off to our home. Their house is recently built, large and modern. Situated in a quiet street of Osnabruck. Beddings and towels were prepared for us. This house has everything and more one could need during a vacation. Two separate children's rooms, a bathroom for the children, a parents bedroom and a large bath room with sauna. A fully equipped kitchen, large living room and use of washmachine and dryer. A beautiful garden where you can sit in the sun and/or shadow, just as you like. In Osnabruck we had a great time visiting the Zoo. A day at the Moskaubad, a Museum, the region and the center of Osnabruck made it a great week for us. Thanks to the hospitality of Alexander and Barbara our first swap was a big success.”
“We recommend without hesitation an exchange with the Berger family. Everything was perfect. Their house is beautiful. We took advantage of the beautiful garden. The neighborhood is very nice. The region contains many tourist treasures (bike rides, hiking, historic sites). We liked downtown Osnabruck and the city of Munster; especially. We went to Noordwijk in the Netherlands and took advantage of the beautiful beach. Our communications with Barbara and Alexander were easy and enjoyable. We highly recommend an exchange with the friendly Berger family. They take care of our house. Carmen, Pierre-François and Raphaël ”
“In July 2018 I enjoyed two wonderful weeks in the great house of Alexander and Barbara. The house is spacious, welcoming, very clean and located in a quiet area. I felt very at ease. The garden and terrace invited me to spend some time, to eat and to relax there. Osnabrück is a beautiful, accessible and clean city, with lovely spots and lots to see such as the Domchurch, the Nussbaum museum, the Botanical Gardens, the Zoo and it is very nice for shopping as well. Alexander and Barbara even shared a friend with me, they allowed me to receive my children and grandchildren in their house and in the mean time they maintained very well my home and garden. Well, it was a fantastic home swap, I found friends in Osnabrück. Thank you, I send you one of my smiles Korien”
“Our exchange in 2010 with the Berger family was very successful - beautiful, new house, a great area with nice towns, landscapes, museums etc. And everything just worked out great with our German exchange family! We have agreed to stay in touch and maybe exchange again somewhat later.”
“We visited Alexanders and Barbaras lovely apartment in Osnabrück, summer of 2010 and we had a great time there. The family are experienced in welcoming other families to their home. We had good instructions, regarding what to do, where to eat and everything worked out in the best possible way. The apartment is situated in a cosy neighborhood where it is possible to go out for a run or walk in a beautiful forest. We had nice time both at their home and in the city. Osnabruck have a great swimming area where the kids enjoyed themselves, we found plenty of activities close by and just loved to go to the Saturday morning market and by fresh grocery. We had a great stay and will warmly recommend an exchange with Alexander and Barbara. Greetings from Atli and Selma from Esbjerg, Denmark”
“Dear Barbara and Alexander, Thank you for the exchange in July 2020. This was our second exchange with each other but due to Corona this was an easy solution this year. We very much enjoyed our second stay in Osnabrûck. We played "swingolf" at a cosy farm and visited the zoo in Osnabrück. We also rented a canoo to row from Rieste to Bersenbrück, a nice four hour journey including picnic. The weather was good but not warm enough for oudoor swimming so we visited the Nettebad, a nice indoor pool. For shopping with my teenagers, a trip to Münster did the trick, but we also visited Osnabrück several times and had coffee and cake at lovely cafés. The app Geocaching led us to some local treasures within walking distance from the house. We also took time to just relax in the lovely house and garden. At home, the house and our pets were perfectly taken care of. Wishing you many great exchanges to come. Best regards, Lotte and family”
“We had the pleasure of exchanging house with the Berger family in summer 2017. All aspects of the exchange were perfect: - we had great communication before and during our exchange. - they have an amazing house in a quiet area just outside Osnabrück; a perfect base for exploring the area. - they took good care of our home while here, and left it spotless for our return. We strongly recommend an exchange with this family!”
“We spent our summer holiday 2016 in Osnabrück where we stayed 11 days in Barbara and Alexander’s home. The house and garden were absolutely beautiful and we were very comfortable during our stay. The weather was great so we spent some days at a local outdoor swimming pool. We visited the old city center of Osnabrück and saw the townhall, the cathedral and the castle. There was also time for shopping in the pedestrians-only streets of the inner city. We went to Bad Iburg, a small cosy town a short drive away, where we saw the monastery. Finally, we went to the Varusschlacht Museum, showcasing the findings from a great battle between the Romans and Germanic tribes which took place right outside Osnabrück in 9 AD. We also enjoyed staying home, playing and taking walks in the quiet neighborhood. Every morning we fetched fresh bread from a nearby bakery on foot and had breakfast on the terrace. We stayed in touch during the stay using What’s App and it was a great way to clear away questions fast. We had a great vacation, and at home, we found everything in perfect condition. We were especially happy to sense that the pets had had good company while we were away. Barbara and Alexander have our warmest recommendations. Best regards from Lotte.”
“We had the pleasure of spending two weeks at this lovely home last summer. The family were very gracious and hospitable. The home is as advertised. It was very comfortable, clean, spacious. The sunroom in the dining area was a welcome addition on cooler, cloudy days. We were very comfortable. The house is within easy access of the freeway for travel to town and around the area. We enjoyed Osnabruck which has a lovely old town. Osnabuck is a nice base for travel in the region.”
