“Last August 2010 Fred and I had the good fortune to stay 4 weeks in Friederika's home in Stadt-Oldendorf (which we found very comfortable and cosy). A lovely little village and delightful host. We explored the surrounding countryside by bus, train and car (Hamelin, Holzminden, Einbeck and Bodenwerder to mention a few which were absolutely stunning). Last month Friederika stayed in our home In Western Australia where we renewed our acquaintance and became really good friends.”

Friederike's reviews
As a host (4)“I've been talking to Friederike for a long time before we actually met. I'm very happy that she can exchange home with me as staying in her beautiful home is such a memorable experience. Her home is very pretty, and eating with her Furstenberg porcelain fill my every meal with joy and happiness. I'm very grateful that she gives me the chance to visit her beautiful country and I like Germany so much that I would go back again. Friederike is a very nice, helpful and friendly teacher. She is very patience in answering all my questions about train schedule, car rental and places to visit in details, and once, I feel bad about bothering her with so many questions. I'm still in touch with Friederike after the exchange and I hope I can see her someday in China next year. So, don't forget about me :-) With Love, Ada”
“In September this year we spent three very enjoyable weeeks in Friederika's home. Her house is warm, comfortable and inviting. Stadtoldebdorf is a great base for exploring the beautiful towns and villages of the Weserbergland and beyond.”
“We hosted Friederike (Freddie) over the Christmas week of 2011. In return Freddie hosted us during the second week of August 2012. Freddie was the perfect hostess with nothing to much trouble. Each day was well filled with visits to the kind of places we had indicated we would like to see. Our base at Stadtoldendorf was perfect for this as it meant we could see/visit many things/places without the need to travel many hours in any one direction. At the end of each day we could relax with a wine or two (!!!) with good food and conversation. Freddie's home was very comfortable in a quiet area within walking distance of shops and restaurants. We considered ourselves particularly lucky as we can't speak German but Freddie was always there to explain or interpret for us. This made it so much easier to appreciate the people and the culture. Stadtoldendorf itself is a village/small town with some lovely rural scenery surrounding it. The Wesser River runs close by with marvelous walking and cycling trails following this. The location of Freddie's home together with great hosting (also for normal exchanging too) leaves us with some very fond memories of our time in Stadtoldendorf and hopefully a return at some future time. We cannot recommend Freddie's home and location highly enough.”

I am a teacher, 55 years of age and I live alone in my house which is quite big for me.It is not too big though, because I love having guests and my partner stays over regularly. I love travelling a lot, but have never tried exchanging homes, yet. It sound a great idea, though. One of my great aims is to spend one year travelling during a sabbattical starting in summer 2011. It would be great, if I could arrange it to combine several house exchanges in that year. I would also like to stay in one house for a few months, if that is possible.

Where is it?
Neighbourhood
The town is small in a rural area but has all the shops for everyday need right around the corner.
The highlight of this area is that it lies in the well-known "Weserbergland", which is famous for its city of Hameln (Hamlin) with the legend of the pied-piper. Hameln is only 40 minutes away by car and accessible by bus. Another interesting city is Einbeck, famous for its beer and its beautiful medieval houses. We have the river "Weser", along which you can cycle on a specific cycling path for hundreds of miles. For hikers, the area is also a "paradise" with its many hills, forrests and small medieval towns. Hannover is one hour away by car, 1,5 hours by train and you can reach Göttingen also in one hour.
The town Stadtoldendorf itself has an outdoor swimming-pool and there is horse-riding in a neighbouring village. There is also a train-station in town.
