About our home

Our house is a very small house attached to a very large art studio.
Be aware this is an older place that used to be an office-something for an old saw mill that is no longer here. It is rustic and not at all handicap friendly. The bedroom is up a ladder....
We have a couch that sleeps two slim adults and a mezzanine in the studio that sleeps 2, accessed by a ladder. PERFECT for summer sleeping!
Of course you are welcome to pitch a tent wherever your little heart desires!

We have internet/wireless access. No television. Portableradio/CD player. LOTS of books!(English +a few in French)
Our small, quaint kitchen is loaded with just about any exotic spices or oils you could wish for and my garden sports a vast array of exotic spices as well during the warm seasons. Wild strawbwerries are always at hand for lazy summer snacking.

While we are child friendly, you must know there is water on three sides of us. There is a "water fall" where the old waterwheel used to be and can be very dangerous if children are not watched.
The water runs under the parking and comes out 50 meters later.
This is NOT a place where small kids should run around unsupervised.

More about us

  1. Our website pretty much says it all:
I am a full-time artist and Lydia is an engineer. She also races motorbikes when she has time and spare cash to fund her racing/speed addiction. If you visit when we are here, it's possible to go on a combined bike tour of the Black Forest. She also teaches bike safety/road survival courses. Just ask.

We will be here alot this year but we always welcome guests so just contact us for times you are interested in staying. We also offer a sort of rustic B&B set-up if we are here and you wish for the service.
This is also a great stopping-place for small groups ex: motobike club, cycling club, etc.

Dogs might be welcome depending on the dog. Dog must LOVE cats.
(And I don't mean "love" as in "dinner", ha-ha)
We have four cats. 3 that are indoor/outdoor and one strictly indoor.

Don't panic! Our house NEVER smells like cat-box. The cat-box is in the studio, not in the house.
Of course, during your stay, if you want to schedule a trip somewhere else, we have certain neighbors who can take over the cat care while you are gone. Cats are used to being on their own for max of 3 days.

Where is it?

We are in the north end of the Black Forest.
We are in the middle of motorbike HEAVEN. Endless choices of twisty, curvy forest roads to explore!

We are 45 mins from Frankfurt airport, 1 hour from Stuttgart airport, 30 mins from France, 15 mins from the main highway.
There are food stores @5 mins away and twice a week(wed + sat)there is an excellent farmers market 15 mins away with top-knotch bio veggies, meat and cheese.
Of course, right out the back door and up the hill is the land of CHAMPIGNONS! I go mushroom hunting almost daily. Yum!

It's very beautiful here all year round. This region is one of the best areas for x-country skiing in Germany. Snow shovels are in the cellar in case you have to dig your way out, ha-ha!
Endless choices of trails for hiking, mountain biking and geo-caching(!) directly from our house.
Lots of old churches/monasteries, etc. to discover and we are only @30 mins from country!
