“We had a wonderful holiday in Wasserburg. Matthias and Ines\' home in a quiet residential area is bright and spacious with a relaxing back garden and patio . We are a retired couple, We used public transport the first week exploring the local areas, We enjoyed the small town atmosphere of the historic town of Wasserburg - cafés, shops, old buildings, river walk. Trips included a day in Munich and a short bus ride brought us to nearby village of Amerang with its delightful Aran Café and a visit to the interesting Vintage Car Museum. Using public transport needs planning and takes time. Having a car is a definite advantage. (car swap not possible on this occasion). Family joined us for a week with their car and we explored further afield, including mountains, BMW Museum, Chiemsee lake area, and a memorable visit to the Eagles Nest. Our 10 month old grandchild loved the local Leisure Centre & Pool in Badria. There is great variety in the Bavaria Region. We heartily recommend Matthias & Ines\' home for a holiday exchange. Matthias's reviewsAs a host (6)
“Matthias and Ines have a lovely home. It's very clean and bright. A nice garden and outside space to sit in. Alongside the river it's a 10 minute walk to the beautiful old town of Wasserburg am Inn. Nice restaurants, museums and shops. The Inn runs around town, you can for instance walk the sculpture path. A bit further on is the village of Amerang wich is lovely, we had a great dinner at "the Wirth von Amerang". We also took the train to Munich, beautiful town with all the shops you can wish for and ofcourse the English park. And do go to the "Viktualienmarkt" for a real German meal! The area around Wasserburg is very nice with its friendly sloping hills. Matthias and Ines made us feel very welcome and we had a great exchange!”
“We recommend the house of Matthias and Ines strongly because; It really is a beautiful house, very clean and spacious. The diversity of the landscape, the wealth of natural beauty, historical attractions and popular culture has much to offer. A very versatile area. Bavaria has an impressive and varied nature. Jagged Alpine peaks in the extreme south, lowland in the middle, gently rolling farmland with colorful corn fields and wooded mountain range in the north. In other words, a fascinating versatility! in a scale of 1 to 10, this location at least ten points Daan & Liesbeth from Texel”
“Wasserburg is a small town in Bavaria that has been able to keep its old world atmosphere. Our hosts, Matthias and Enos were staying nearby and graciously volunteered to give us a tour. Since he is employed as an archivist, he provided us with a balance of historical, architectural, and artistic details of the buildings and paintings. They went out of their way to make our visit a rewarding experience. From Wasserburg, it is a short trip to Salzburg and Munich as well as to the mountains.”
Where is it?
Wasserburg is a lovely town and very friendly so you may get in contact with people here easily. Our house is also ideally located as a touring base in the south-east of bavaria. It's in a very friendly neighbourhood near to the historic town of Wasserburg am Inn in walking distance: A first glimpse of the town impresses immediately. Almost an island, practically surrounded by the river Inn Wasserburg appears quite extraordinary. On entering the town, the visitor has the feeling of entering a fairy tale world. A town with pastel coloured walls, archways and battlements, a gateway and mighty fortress. The old part of town with its colourful gothic houses pulsates with life and when the street cafés overflow, locals and visitors just meet together under the arcades to shop, celebrate or chat in its narrow streets. The almost completely preserved medieval old town of Wasserburg is altogether, a first class attraction. The rural landscape around Wasserburg is a paradise for nature lovers, whether on foot or by bicycle. Numerous footpaths and cycle ways criss-cross the valley floor of the Inn and the moraines and hills of the Bavarian "Alpenvorlandes" with its many magnificent views. www.wasserburg.de
