About our home

Our house is located in a residential area, in a œkind of€ dead end road which is closed for cars, but open for pedestrians and bicycles, so that our children and those of our neighbours are usually playing on the street. You can reach a beautiful Tennis club 2 minutes on foot (at the end of the street, even without crossing a street). Our house has 3 cosy bedrooms under the roof in the second floor (the spacious master bedroom with its own balcony), 3 bedrooms in 1st floor (plus a guest room in the cellar) and in the ground floor access to the garden from the living room, dining room and kitchen (and also direct access to the garage with bicycles etc.). You should be able to find enough to read in English, German and French in our house... We by the way also have Satellite TV, also with access to the French programmes DVD/video and wifi.

While Wiesbaden may not be the best-known town in Germany, it is nevertheless a very interesting place to live and to spend a vacation being situated in the center of Germany with superb flight-, train- and motorway-connections, only 20 min. from Frankfurt/Main-airport, 25 min. from Frankfurt with its museums and banking center , 50 min. from Heidelberg, 2 h by car (by train only 1 hour) to Cologne (Köln), Strasbourg (France) and even only 4 h by the new fast train to Paris and Munich, less than 5 h by train to Berlin.

Wiesbaden itself is a rather green and residential medium-sized town, the capital of Hessen, which is intending to enter into the UNESCO world heritage because of its impressive late 19th century architecture. It has many parks, is surrounded by green hills with forests and the river Rhine, and has several public outdoor swimming pools with beautiful views, many cafés and restaurants with open terraces. There also are wild animal parks.

A special cultural event during the summer months is the Rheingau-Musik-Festival (http://www.rheingaufestival.de/start.php) with large variety of concerts (classic, jazz, etc.) in original locations (castles, gardens, monasteries, chapels, etc.) international reputation. The Rhine valley, one of the best white wine (Riesling) regions in the world with its romantic castle ruins + steep rocks + vineyards which starts 10 min. by car from our house is part of UNESCO-world heritage. The Gutenberg-city of Mainz is 10 min a
