About our home

Stoupa is a small coastal village located in region known as 'The Mani', in the Southern Peloponnese, around 45km South of Kalamata, the location of the nearest airport. Stoupa is famed for its two exceptional beaches as well as a smattering of smaller, secluded sandy coves. There is a good choice of above average tavernas, several supermarkets, up-market gift shops, etc. There are car and bicycle hire shops, two cash machines, an excellent bakers and villages within walking distance all around to explore.

Stoupa nightlife is mostly low-key and centred around the tavernas. There are no clubs or lively bars in Stoupa though several tavernas have live music nights in season. Stoupa is very much a place to sunbathe, swim, talk, walk, eat, read, watch the World go by and generally rediscover 'old Greece'.

The property is a detached, chalet-style holiday home peacefully set in an olive grove garden, around 10 minutes walk from the many attractions of Stoupa and offering simple but comfortable holiday accommodation ideally suited to two adults.

The house briefly comprises: twin bedroom, living room, a modern kitchen and shower room with washbasin and WC.

The living room and bedroom are fitted with ceiling fans and have patio doors opening to a raised terrace around the house. A convertible sofa bed in the living room could accommodate a third adult if required. There is a bookcase of English books and unique in-wall speakers for music inside and out.

There is a small supermarket just two minutes walk through the olive groves for fresh milk, bread, eggs, meat, beers and wines and general provisions.

As non-residents, we must arrange professional cleaning and laundry before your stay for which we ask a contribution of £40 (just once irrespective of the duration). We can also usually arrange private airport transfers from Kalamata upon request for around half the cost of a public taxi or supply public transport information. Please contact us for any further details.

Where is it?

Buzzy restaurants
’Pitzipas’, on Kalogria beach and ‘Ageliki’s Spitiko’ at the Northern end of Stoupa’s main beach are our favourites
Cool bars
‘Taverna Panorama’, turn right just before the Agricultural Bank on the road from Kalogria to Stoupa, has the best sunset views
Cozy cafés
Go where the Greeks go in the kafenions opposite the centre of Stoupa's main beach
Retail therapy
There are upmarket giftshops but the fortnightly table-top sale has locally made handicrafts
Bit of culture
Nikos Kazantzakis lived, ate, drank and danced with the real-life George Zorba on nearby Kalogria beach. Above the beach is his bronze bust.
Walks in the park
Turn left out of the door then walk right up into the mountains
Spot of exercise
Hire mountain bikes in central Stoupa
Day tripping
Kardamyli and Aghios Nikolaos are the next village either way and both well-worth visiting
