“Syros is beautiful island and Edna's out has a stunning view and location, really out of the path.We felt at home and in Greece at the same time as the island is mainly visited by Greek tourists. Ermoupoli is a beautiful and charming city. Edna's house is ideally located for those who want quietness and also very close to much alive places. The closest beaches are not crowded even in August and the sea is very clear. We spent 3 delightful weeks.”

“We spent 3 weeks in Ednas beautiful house on Syros. The view was absolutely smashing - the home very interesting - we saw a lot of things - met very nice people - a most relaxing place - good for mind and body. Perfect bathing water - lovely beaches. We can highly recommend Ednas house for a quiet and relaxing holiday!! Steen and Dorthe”
“When we were approached with an opportunity for an exchange on a Greek Island we immediately adjusted our travel plans to include a small detour to this slice of paradise. When we show our friends the photographs they can not believe our luck. We had the pleasure of staying in Edna's wonderful house for three weeks and found it to be the perfect relaxing way to start our annual trip to the Northern Hemisphere. A classic house of typical island style complete with white walls, blue shutters and mandatory bougainvillea looking over a 270 degree view directly to the Mediterranean. A short walk both ways to a beach and cantina or to the bus that travels each half hour around the island. Easy access to supermarkets for necessities. Who could want for more. The house is comfortable and beautifully decorated with memorabilia reflecting Edna's career and great sense of style. Edna was very welcoming and the attention to detail evident in her house manual was a great help with many tips to help the tourist find both necessities and items of interest. Thank you Edna and warmest regards Chris and Barbara”
“After a few hectic days of travel it was very nice to stay at Edna's beautiful hilltop home. Stunning, uninterrupted views of the ocean and surrounds. A car would be handy but those who enjoy moderate walks can, with a bit of planning, travel by public transport to most of the island and the major town centre. Aria and Georgio the housekeepers were able to advise us on things that helped make our planning easier. A small pristine bay just below Ednas offers a good place to swim and a tavern with tasty food. Many other beaches nearby offer the same. A top place to relax.”
“To start off, the exchange process was very easy with Edna, an exceptional exchanger, always with easy going communication. She is very clear and direct and the people that we met there were very nice and friendly. The house is simply unique, and from everywhere you have a incredible views over a Aegean Sea. It is the perfect place to relax and let time past, and it is located just a hundred meters from a pretty cove which is not so crowded even in August. You can find a delicious restaurant (tavern) where some nights you can enjoy dinner with live classical music. Fantastic!!”
“We have just spent 3 glorious weeks (May) enjoying a non simultaneous exchange in Edna's home. The home is located atop a peninsular with breathtaking views which greeted us each morning from our bedroom balcony, and again in the afternoons in the garden with the obligatory wine and local cheeses gazing endlessly at the vista before us. The home is a typical home of the style found on the Greek islands. Syros is an unspoilt and un-tourist wrecked island, we hired a car for the duration at a very reasonable rate through Maestraili car rental, lovely people and very accommodating. There is so much to see and do on Syros that we cannot do it justice in the short space allowed here suffice to say we plan to return one day sooner than later. Thank you Edna we are so looking forward to returning the exchange when you next come visit Down Under.”
“We arrived late in the evening to discover a charming and cozy house, full of colors and textures. In the morning, a soft, bluish light invited us to take a peek from the bedroom balcony and... Wow! What a view! The incomparable blue of the Aegean surrounded us and a tiny little church adorned the rocky promontory on the other side of the bay. The house provided us with all the facilities and the people we met were always very helpful and friendly. All in all, a memorable exchange. Thank you Edna for sharing your lovely home with us.”
Where is it?
Near a country village, with its own access road. Easy walk to close-by village shops and tavernas.
Bus stop 5 minutes away, with very frequent service all over the island. Ermoupolis, the main town, is the capital of the Cyclades, so all services are available.
Hospital, law courts, airport, seaport, travel agencies, boat and car hire.
There are three supermarkets (which will deliver groceries if the order is larger than 50e), including a French one.
Island settled by Crusaders in 1207, after 4th Crusade. Ano Syros, above Ermoupolis, their settlement, still exists as it was then, lived in, with shops and lively tavernas. City center is classé, a Neoclassical historical site, famous in Greek history. Ancient ruins, even 5000 years old. Excellent tavernas, town and country.
