About our home

This five year old home was built in a Spanish style, but various rooms have their own themes like the Tuscan living room and Greek sitting room. It is comfortable, clean and full of artistic touches.
The one bedroom is upstairs and has a terrace that overlooks the garden. There is a modern ensuite bathroom and a separate sitting area with views of the volcanoes. The downstairs is an open area concept with the living room adjoining the dinning and kitchen areas. There are 2 flat screen TV and sound system in the living room and in the separate den (which could be used as a second bedroom). There is also a second bathroom downstairs (with shower) and a laundry area.
Antigua is known for its beautiful weather year round so there are many outdoor areas for sitting and enjoying the gardens that surround the house. Note that we have a second house on the property that we use as a guest house with 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms. This could be used for family members.
It is located in a neighbourhood with a 24 hour guard. It also is completly surrounded by a wall for maximum security. It comes with a gardener who will take care of the property for you (no charge).

More about us

  1. Hi, we are Bob and Shirley Adams, a retired couple in our early sixties. We moved to Guatemala 14 years ago from Vancouver Canada to set up and teach a university cross-cultural program. We designed and built our house together (and are still married). We want to spend several weeks in England in 2016. If you can't match the whole time, we would interested in just a week. We have one daughter who lives in a separate house on our property (in Guatemala). She and her husband would be available to help with any questions or situations that might come up.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

We are situated on two acres of property 2 miles from the centre of Antigua Guatemala. Antigua is an international heritage site that maintains it's charming Spanish Colonial ambiance. It has become a destination place for people around the world who come to enjoy the quaint cobblestone streets, numerous fine restaurants and many cafes where you can sample some of the world's best coffee. There is lots to do and plenty of help with travel agents and tour guides that are there to serve the many visitors. They will help you set up a trip to the Mayan ruins of Tikal or Copan, zip line through a mountain coffee plantation, or take an excursion to the Pacific beaches which are an hour and a half away. There is a regular bus service from our place to Antigua or the ever present tuk tuk taxis which cost about $4 a trip. We are open to share our vehicle as well.
