About our home

A cozy colonial totally furnished townhouse in a private "behind the walls" enclave. Sleeps 1-6 (there is a sleeping loft in addition to the large one bedroom/sitting room...and a convertible sofa in the living room downstairs). Fireplace, balcony with volcano views; a lovely garden and patio full of plants ...outdoor seating. Close to market and only a ten minute walk to the center of town. Includes housecleaning and laundry service ...wireless internet and cable TV with DVD player ....also access to exercise equipment including treadmill, recumbent bike, and Total Gym.

The house is located on a property with a similar townhouse in which I live. I use the one I am listing as an office/guest space. There will be household help to welcome you and help out.

This neighborhood of "San Luquitas/Espiritu Santo" is favored by many ex-pats as well as Guatemalans. It's located just east of one on Antigua's main streets and close to the market, churches and colonial ruins.A short walk to the city's Central Park and all tourist attractions-- including museums, churches, and many colonial ruins. Also close to shops and restaurants.

The entire city of Antigua is at your fingertips from here -- this is a walking city and you can walk from one end to the other in about half an hour (depending on your speed)...And from here, you are only a safe shuttle ride away to picturesque market villages, volcanoes for hiking, gorgeous lakes surrounded by more volcanoes, spas, and of course, Guatemala's famous Mayan ruins, such as Tikal.

I am a former U.S. public radio journalist based mostly in Guatemala for over a decade.
This is a beautiful and interesting country and I sometimes report on events from here. I've have also spent time training journalists in the countryside here.

I love living in Guatemala-- with it friendly people and beautiful countryside...I also love living in Antigua, surrounding by volcanoes and green hills.
