About our home

My home is tucked away down a quiet lane in the parish of St Pierre du Bois on the Island of Guernsey. My barn was fully renovated in 2015 and sits 20 meters from the main house at the back of the garden. The barn is completely private from the main house with all the facilities you’d expect to be self sufficient.

On the top floor of the barn there is a large lounge area with double bed. On the ground floor there is a kitchenette, bathroom and gym. The gym can double up as a second bedroom for extended stays. For entertainment, there is access to Sky, Sonos sound system and game consoles with wi-fi throughout. There are plenty of films, games, books, board games and outdoor play kit available on request.

If I am residing in the main house at the time of your visit, which will be likely, I will be on hand to assist in any way possible. I maybe available to cook the odd evening meal for you if I am free as the cooking facilities in the barn are limited. Over the weekend I tend to indulge in some "low and slow" American BBQ and there is always plenty to go round.

The barn is ideally suited for a couple but it could also accommodate a child or two on spare mattresses or comfy airbeds in either the upstairs lounge or separately in the gym area.

The site is very peaceful with an abundance of wildlife, flowers, shrubs and fruit trees to enjoy. Depending on the time of year I can provide home grown vegetables (July onwards) and an abundance of apples and pears (mid August onwards). The whole site includes a field on each side with many trees that provide excellent privacy whilst retaining distant sea views.

Where is it?

Buzzy restaurants
Guernsey has well over 50 restaurants, we are spoilt for choice for great food from all manner of different cuisines. There are some very good seafood and steak restaurants. There is only one restaurant within a 5 minute walk, which is the local pub. However, there are numerous local taxis available to quickly transport you anywhere on the Island. There are at least four restaurants within a 5 to 10 minutes drive of the property.
Cool bars
The local pub is a 5 minute walk away. There are at least another 50 scattered throughout the Island with some of the better ones on the coastline near great beaches and in St Peter Port. Jumping on the local bus or cycling from pub to pub is a great way to relax, enjoy the local scenery and the local brew!
Cozy cafés
There are lots of cafes, particularly at the start of popular cliff walks. There are plenty of cafes in St Peter Port from small locally owned to large coffee chain stores.
Retail therapy
Tax free shopping in St Peter Port with an excellent selection of a wide range of goods, jewellry being very popular. However, don't expect big department stores.
Bit of culture
Lots of local history and culture to explore with particular emphasis on the German occupation of the Islands during the second world war. There is plenty of sightseeing and local traditions.
Walks in the park
One of the main attractions of Guernsey is the spectacular coastal walks, exceptional scenery and fresh sea air all on your doorstep. There are also great walks around the local reservoir and shorter strolls in local parks with access to children's outdoor play areas.
Spot of exercise
Of course, apart from the use of the onsite gym, there are plenty of sea activities including swimming, kayaking, fishing and coasteering. Inland is more cycling, golf and local football. The large sports centre caters for all manner of indoor activities. There are local companies that offer brilliant kids clubs that focus heavily on outdoor adventures.
Day tripping
Excellent day trips to nearby Islands, Herm and Sark being very popular. Neighbouring islands are only a short boat journey away.
