About our home

Our home is a 90 year old cottage just off the west coast and in a quiet area just a 2 minute drive/10-15 minute walk from beaches which are perfect for swimming, nice coastal walks and a small village.
The cottage has an open-plan south-facing kitchen, dining and sitting area opening out on to a sunny terrace and garden which is made up of lawn, gravel & vine-covered pergola (for meals out of the sun!). Back inside we have a cosy sitting/dining room, 2 double bedrooms and one three-bed bedroom, 1 bath/shower room and 2 shower rooms and a laundry room. We have a couple of bikes you can hop on - nowhere in Guernsey is far away! A car swap option is available.

More about us

  1. The home's Masters are two cats, Bertie and Itsy (a Grey Persian and a black and white Aristocat). The Masters can check themselves into a friendly cattery if you are not interested in a cat swap for the duration.
The Masters kindly allow us to share their home. We are retired company directors. When not serving our feline Masters, we enjoy grandparenting, music, walking, golf, reading, painting, gardening and DIY, voluntary work, entertaining and socializing generally.
We enjoyed our first swap with a Danish family last year, which was a wonderful experience.

Where is it?

The village nearby has a supermarket, butcher and deli (also selling newspapers and fresh bread) a choice of restaurants and terraced bistros and a pub serving good pub grub where you watch the sun setting over the bay. Chips on the beach is a "must" too! Here are some seascapes from the area All of this is just a 10-15 minute walk away or a couple of minutes by car.
Fresh-picked crabmeat and homegrown vegetables are nearby.
2 bus routes nearby take you into the pretty town of St Peter Port and around the rest of the island.
Guernsey offers wonderful clean, sandy beaches for sunbathing and swimming, sandcastles and family games, rock pools, wind surfing, canoeing and surfing etc. Several beaches are just a short distance from our home.
Walkers and cyclists can enjoy quiet lanes and flat coastal paths and walkers can enjoy the more hilly cliff paths too, with fabulous views.
The island has two 18 hole and one nine hole golf courses.
The no-car islands of Herm and Sark are perfect for day trips, Herm being my paradise of choice! The other Channel Islands are easily accessible, as are ports and airports in Brittany.
The whole island has a huge selection of good restaurants, cafes and pubs, supermarkets, shopping and fresh seafood; fresh produce is available on the Hedge Veg stalls dotted around the island.
Victor Hugo spent 15 years in exile on the island, during which time he wrote some of his best works including Les Miserables. His house remains just as he left it and is open to the public.
Guernsey offers you so much history, beauty, culture, music and sport, far too much for me to detail so let our tourist website do the rest of the talking!
