About our home

My apartment is in a Chinese village on Lamma Island 25 minute ferry ride from Central, Hong Kong. It is a comfortable, clean, well appointed little home on the top floor and roof of a typical Chinese village house (2/F, 3/F). There is 1 bedroom with a king size bed, en suite bathroom with bath / shower, a lounge / dining room, balcony, kitchen, separate toilet, office with wifi, and roof top garden for relaxing, outdoor dining, barbecuing or just fall asleep in the hammock. The pictures show it all. It is a little sanctuary in the wonderful madness of Hong Kong.
Only a 10min walk through the village from the ferry. I’ll organize someone to assist with suitcases on your arrival.

More about us

  1. I am a South African in my late 50s and have lived in my apartment for 10 years. I came to HK to start my business which I still run. I am a non smoker and don't have animals. I love to travel and entertain quite a bit. I have not done a home exchange before, but am looking forward to experiencing an unrushed view of some new places and also letting others experience my unique little corner of Asia.

Where is it?

Experience living in an ethnic Chinese village while enjoying western style home comforts, with the full buzz of HK a hop away.
Yung Shue Wan is a seaside village situated on Lamma Island in Hong Kong. It offers a quiet, leafy and natural alternative to the noise and bustle of the city. The village is steeped in true Chinese life and culture making it an attractive home for a number of westerners. No chrome, glass, glitz, high rise buildings or cars here (you must walk or cycle!). It is a laid back, friendly community. YSW has a number of restaurants, bars, convenience and fresh produce stores, so it is easy to get all you need right here. Lamma Island offers great walks/cycling, a beach, a temple, a selection of shops and good Chinese seafood restaurants.
It is a very easy 25 minute commute to HK Island (either to Central or Aberdeen). The ferries run regularly (approx every 40 mins depending on the time of day). The last ferry back from Central is 12.30 at night. Saturday and Sunday it is 2.30am
