Where is it?
Tihany Abbey. ( 20 minutes from the house )
Tihany Abbey is a Benedictine abbey, which was founded by King Andrew I in 1055 in honor of St. Ányos and Virgin Mary in Tihany.
The monastery's founding document is the oldest surviving original form of the Hungarian language diploma. In the document we can find Hungarian words and expressions also. The diploma of Pannonia Archabbey preserved in the archives.
Kali Basin. ( 45 minutes from the house )
In a wreath of mountains located the Kali Basin, which has been protected since 1984.
The Kali Basin of Lake Balaton Uplands National Park. North of the Black Mountains, stretches on the southern edge of the lake is not far away. Pécselyi basin also located close to Kali basin, between them the Halom mountain can be found, which is 395,8 m tall.
Keszthely Castle. ( 1 Hour from the house )
Keszthely - Festetics Castle Keszthely monument is of outstanding importance.
Construction has started in the mid-18th century, but only has finished in 1880. The city annually hosts a number of cultural events, some of which are organized in Festetics ceremonial hall.
Balatonfured. ( 15 minutes from the house )
It has been declared a health resort in 1971, the International Wine and Grape city in 1987. The climate is Mediterranean-like with a lot of warm sunlight. Lake Balaton is the largest lake in Central Europe. There are interesting programmes, such as, beaches, tennis courts, surfing, sailing opportunities. Slide Park, Hungarian restaurants, cozy pubs.
There is a new golf course 20 minutes west by car which is right on the lake.
Veszprem. ( 10 minutes from the house )
Veszprém is in the middle of the Transdanubian region Hills .Attractions in the city: Veszprém Bishop's Palace, Cathedral church of the Holy Trinity Square. Bishop's Castle, High-quality zoo, parks, museums, high-class restaurants, shopping centers.
Hévíz: the source of life. ( 1,5 hours from the house )
Hévíz situated in south-west Hungary, with a unique natural healing pond. Europe's largest thermal lake with healing hot-water. It is beneficial to many musculoskeletal, rheumatic, inflammatory diseases.
Zalakaros. ( 1,5 hours from the house )
The Granite Thermal Spa internationally renowned medical facility. It helps chronic gynecological diseases, gum diseases, musculoskeletal disorders (chronic inflammatory joint diseases), surgical locomotion impairment after-treatment, treatment of dermatological problems.
Budapest ( Capital of Hungary 2 hours from the house)
Budapest is the financial hub in Central Europe, and the world's 100th largest GDP growing city. According to the American magazine Forbes in Budapest 7th "most idyllic cities in Europe". UCityGuides the ninth most beautiful cities in the world lists. on the basis interviewed by the influential U.S. travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler 1.3 million people on the 'Budapest is the world's second best city ". The Hungarian capital city and one of Europe's 10 most popular shopping city in the Economist magazine, according to the research, as has been found in Central and Eastern Europe, most of the shopping center.
Budapest also has several world heritage sites, including the view of the Danube, the Buda Castle Quarter, Andrássy Avenue, Heroes 'Square and the Millennium Underground Railway, the second oldest in the world, after London .
You can find more of the world's largest thermal water cave system is also Europe's largest synagogue (the Dohány Street), and the Hungarian Parliament building, which is the world's third largest parliament, the home of the Holy Crown.
We are also ideally situated to visit Vienna (2 hrs.), Graz (90 mins), Croatia (Northern Adriatic) 3 hours and of course Budapest (2hrs.) Prague is about 6 hours so it is good for an overnight stay.
Balatonalmádi is developing at a rapid pace, busy resort town in Veszprém county, in north-eastern bay of the lake, near the Old Lake patronizing the mountain slope.
The first written mention of Almádi is from 1082.
Attractions: Reformed Church of XII-XIII century, Baroque Catholic church, built in 1779.
There are four beach on the shore, countless sport opportunities, bars, pubs and restaurants.
