About our home

Our second home in the very heart of the city has recently been completely renovated to provide 2 brand new bathrooms and a trendy kitchen. The apartment is at a prime location with a cosmopolitan feel, a 3 minute walk to M1 Opera station and is a real home on the third floor of a 100 year old art nouveau building, has lots of natural light, high ceilings, original wooden floors and a corner window; yet if you come in, you feel it is a cool and modern private home. Tradition and modernity blend perfectly here, just as it is true for Budapest as a whole. The apartment has windows overlooking the small street as well as the courtyard.

With its ideal layout, 2 double bedrooms with their own 2 bathrooms at the opposite ends of the apartment, the flat is an economic option for two couples or a family or friends travelling together. For friends, a bed arrangement of 2 single beds is possible in the second bedroom. The sofa in the living room can open up as a comfortable double bed for another 1 or 2 persons. Our apartment has double and triple glazed windows and we believe it is a relaxing place in a small street in the very heart of the city without the regular car/city noise.

IMPORTANT Our apartment is on the third floor and there is no lift in the building.

Our neighbourhood, Terézváros, or the 6th district, although being very central and known for its thriving cultural life, is a district where locals actually live with places to eat and drink which are of good quality but not touristy. We believe it is one of the most inspiring and exciting, upcoming areas of Budapest.

We fell in love with this part of Budapest as it truly reflects how we like to live: it combines tradition and modernity. You are basically in between two different worlds: the elegant Andrássy avenue on your left and the exciting Jewish quarter on your right with trendy ruin bars, cafés and restaurants.

Some examples to get a feel for the location:
Basilica - 5 min walk
Opera House - 3 min walk
Deák tér - metro hub - 5 min walk
Váci utca and Vörösmarty tér - 10 min
Buda Castle - 15 min by bus or 30 min walk
Chain Bridge - a 10-15 min walk
Danube promenade - a 10- 15 min walk
Ruin pubs - 5-10 min walk
Széchenyi Bath - 10 min by M1
Gellért - 15 min by tram
House of Terrors Museum - 5-10 min walk
Liszt Academy of Music - 5 min walk

Terézváros is a place where you can go for a leisurely walk along the sycamore lined avenue, view the magnificent architectural masterpieces, sit in a café on Liszt Ferenc tér, people watching or contemplating the busy street life on the grand Andrássy avenue, which was added to the UNESCO world heritage sites in 2002.

Shopping on Andrássy is a true experience for those in love with desigher shops. Il Bacio di Stile, for example is on the corner of our street.

The recently reopened Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, reachable in a few minutes walk, in a beautiful Art Nouveau building from 1911 provides the possibility for a world class classical or jazz concert. If you are an opera fan, visit a show in the beautiful building of the Opera house, a few minutes walking, also known for its excellent ballet performances. The Basilica, Europe's largest Synagogue, interesting design shops, boutiques, art galleries as well as lots of nice cafés, restaurants and the ruin pubs are all within walking distance.
