About our home

Our home is in a restored period building on Budapest's "Park Ave" which is a World Heritage site. It is on the 2nd floor of a 3-storey house of 8 apts. There is an elevator and street view plus bright rear courtyard. There are high ceilings and the fittings match the classical style. it was designed by the famous architect of the opera house Miklos Ybl. The neighbours are mature settled cultivated citizens. It is furnished simply but elegantly and was fully redecorated this year. It is totally private, quiet and secure. Perfect for cultural visits.

More about us

  1. My wife and I are Irish with 40 years connection to Hungary. We are retired professionals(academic, nursing) with a lively interest in opera, operetta, classical music and visual arts. The apt. is our second home in Budapest which we know to be a wonderful place for those with our kind of interests. The atmosphere is magical. We are very ready and willing to brief our guests if required on safe and suitable progammes using selected parts of the city's excellent public transport which covers not only the usual metro, tram and trolleybus, but also the less-well known little railways in the Buda hills.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

We are in the centre of the "Broadway of Pest". Our street number is 34, the State Opera is 22. Also nearby are the Operetta, Liszt Conservatory, other theatres, galleries public and private, museums and quality shopping. The area is vibrant and lively but also civilised, urbane and very safe since the iconic attractions such as the Opera are guaranteed secure by the authorities for obvious reasons. There is a great variety of restaurants around. The passing strollers present a perfect scene. Close to Basilica and synagogue. The metro runs to the city centre or to the City Park where are located the marvellous Szechenyi Baths and other visitor attractions-museums, zoo, skating rink, cafes and restaurants
