“We spent one pleasant week in the very homy apartment of Dora and her family. The apartment is as impressive as the art déco building itself with high ceilings, parquet flooring and glass doors. Still it has all modern conveniences of today. The parks with great playgrounds in the area are ideal for relaxing with children and it is very easy to get around in the city. Our children especially loved all the different kinds of transportation (metro, tram, bus, funicular, ship, cogwheel railway, chairlift, train) Budapest offers. The exchange was well prepared and we got loads of tips what to do and see from Dora. So we were able to enjoy Budapest with its hills a lot and want to come back to see more. We found our home in perfect condition. Thank you very much Dora, Marcell and Maja for this wonderful experience!”
Dora's reviewsAs a host (2)
“Quite good area infrastructure-wise (shops, markets, bars, restaurants, etc.). just a few minutes away in some corner streets you have like one restaurant after another. Walking distance to the Danube and so to all the classical places where tourists want to go for sightseeing. The flat itself is well equipped. got everything you need: kitchen, dining place, children's room, 2 toilets, bathroom, etc. The sleeping room is on a 2nd floor and from there you can enter a rooftop terrace which is quite genius for breakfast, looking over the roofs of Budapest or lying in the sun. The family living there are very nice & trustworthy people. they were also very helpful with recommendations for Budapest. recommended for a couple with up to 2 children.”
Where is it?
The apartment is situated at the Buda-side, just at the foot of the Castle-hill, at the metro station Déli Pályaudvar, just 3 metro stations away from the Parliament, and 4 from the center of the classical downtown of Pest. It has excellent transportation, even during the night. It is a very nice area, two parks are literary at the corner, many playgrounds are just a few blocks away as well as a major shopping mall. Small groceries in our street are open during weekend and at night as well. Budapest has a lot to offer throughout the year both for children and for adults. During the summer months a lot of small open air festivals are on-going and in the beginning of August, the biggest central European music-art festival, SZIGET is taking place in Budapest. In the traditional bathes (all with thermal water), you can cool yourselves down during the summer months or relax in the hot water with chess-playing folks during the winter. There are also special bathes called "strand" with big grassy areas and many swimming pools - open from1st May until the weather is nice. There are a lot of hip, open-air pubs- venues change from year to year. Spring and autumn festival hosts world-famous performers but tickets have to be booked well in advance. Budapest is also fun with children - there is always something on-going in the city that is especially organised for them, especially in the summer. During the winter our favorite places are the indoor play houses and a special museum for children on technical innovations.
