“This was my first exchange and I was nervous as you can imagine. The house is beautiful, well located to visit the awesome Balaton Lake from different points, their house is also well connected to transport if you'd like to visit Budapest, a five minute walk from the central bus station. You can also relax in Marcali, the town, which is a friendly well-equipped town with all the services you may need. But the best of all is the family, the house owners. Excellent people who will look after your house and pets, they cared for my house and cat as if they were theirs. And to finish their children although young, they are very well-behaved children and didn't ruin absolutely anything. A great experience!!!”
“We have been to Marcali for 2 weeks and we have discovered great people and a nice house. All was very comfortable and we enjoyed the area.”

You can go hunting in the nearby forests, travel by a small train through the forest in Mesztegnyo or go on a trip to a landscape protection area with a big fishpond in Boronka. You can also visit a lot of historical places e.g. the ruins of a church in Somogyvar, the prehistoric furnace in Somogyfajsz, the tower of Somogyvámos and the famous Festetics castle in Keszthely. You can visit the biggest European Krisna community 20 kilometres from the town. Marcali is 13 kilometres from the biggest lake in Middle-Europe, it is the lake Balaton. There is a huge national park with different outing possibilities e.g. a buffalo nature reserve, places for bird-watching, a water-mill, an otter reserve and a small island called Kanyavari sziget. Hungary is rightly famous for its quality wine. There are several excellent wine-districts near the town, e.g. wine district of the northern part of Lake Balaton 30kms wine-district of Szekszard 100kms wine-district of Villany 100kms the world famous wine district of Tokaj 350kms However, some quality wine can be found around Marcali as well.
