About our home

We find our holiday home charming and comfortable, love the views on bright summer nights and the northern lights during winter. It is in a private, gated, secluded area and from it you will enjoy both mountain and river views. The property covers about one hectare.
It includes a living room with high ceilings, two bedrooms and a spacious sleeping loft. There is a full kitchen, with a gas stove, and outdoor BBQ facilities.
The house features multiple terraces, sauna and a geothermal hot tub with spectacular views. It is just 40 minutes drive from Reykjavik and 10 minutes from Iceland´s national park, Thingvellir and is located on the Golden Circle Route.
Popular area activities include golf, hiking, fishing and swimming. Nearby town of Selfoss offers many services, such as supermarkets, bakeries, restaurants and coffee houses.

  1. We are a family of four, Solveig and Kristjan, and our two boys Kristjan Oddur 11 and Villi 7.
    Solveig works as a PR manager and Kristjan runs a house painting service.

The perfect spot if you intend to enjoy the hightlights of Icelandic nature. Popular area activities include golf, hiking, fishing and swimming.

You are 10 min from Thingvellir national park,
where the continental drift between the North American and Eurasian Plates can be clearly seen.
Gullfoss - The most famous waterfall in Iceland.
Geysir - The Great Geysir. One of the most visited natural wonders in Iceland. A must see on a beautiful day.
Jökulsárlón - Glacial lagoon. Its still, blue waters are dotted with icebergs from the surrounding glaciers.
Landmannalaugar- At the edge of Laugahraun lava field.
Sólheimar - An eco village renowned for its ecological, artistic and int´l community ethics.
Secret Lagoon - Geothermal pool with a spouting geyser.
Kerið - Volcano craterWe recommend walking around there. This place is famous for its red gravel
Laugarvatn Fontana - Laugarvatn is a small village with geothermal energy. In Laugarvatn there is a luxury spa called Fontana. Hot tups and sauna´s. Great place to relax and enjoy the view over the lake.

Buzzy restaurants
Friðheimar - special experience of entering a greenhouse with its fragrance of tomato plants and then sitting down to a feast of the famous Friðheimar tomato soup. Fjorubordid is a lobster restaurant in Stokkseyri.
Retail therapy
Nearby town of Selfoss offers many services, such as supermarkets, bakeries, restaurants and coffee houses.
Walks in the park
I like to start my day with a 30 min walk with my dog on the circle pathway that leads from the cottage.
