About our home
Charming old villa in the center of Hafnarfjordur, a village of old renovated houses. Completely rebuilt in 2007, modern architect designed interior. Stunning ocean views from spacious stylish rooms. Beautiful garden and surroundings. Only 10min to the center of Reykjavik, only 20min direct bus drive to the Blue Lagoon.
From Hafnarfjörður it is only 10min. drive to the center of Reykjavík. Hafnarfjörður also has a great variety of restaurants. through quaint family restaurants to fast food. • What is a more pleasant way to end a fantastic day than eating a delicious meal? Hafnarfjörður has a wide selection. You could try a Viking feast at the Viking Village, excellent seafood at the restaurant Tilveran or a more traditional menu at Gamla Vínhúsið.
The village has to offer variety of cool local places, everything from the local pub, to the Viking bar.
You can enjoy anything from a relaxing café's atmosphere to more local cool place that is a known meeting place of writers, actors and artists, known to the icelandic society.
Little designers shops, offering Iceland fashion, jewelry, are located at the main street in the center, Smáralind, the biggest shopping mall in Iceland is less than 10.min from the center.
Bit of culture
10 min. to center of Reykjavík with all the bigger galleries and museums. Hafnarfjörður Museum is something you will never forget. The main museum building houses two exhibitions. One traces town history, while the other focuses on antique toys for children. The museum also has exhibitions at other sites. • The Hafnarborg Institute of Culture and Fine Arts presents an ambitious program of art shows and musical events.
Walks in the park
Within few minutes from the house - a relaxing walk around the harbor area, heading for the small-boat marina and taking in the sights, sounds and smells. Or walking in the park - Hellisgerði, You could try to spot one of the hidden people yourself at Hellisgerði Park or take a guided Hidden Worlds tour. This tour starts every Tuesday and Friday in June, July and August at 14:30, other times by request.
Spot of exercise
Bus drive (20.min.) straight to the most famous Blue Lagoon - nothing compares to that experience. And there is no better way to start your day than to soak in one of the three swimming pools situated in Hafnarfjörður. Swimming in naturally warm geothermal water is one of the “musts” of visiting Iceland!.
One option is riding horses at Íshestar, which has exciting tours that leave daily at 14:00 and can suit both novice and experienced riders. If you are fond of nature walks and have a car at your disposal, a trip to the Krýsuvík area would be a fine idea. The famed geothermal pools and colorful deposits there are only a 25-minute drive from Hafnarfjörður. Driving nearer the sea, you can view the cliffs of Krýsuvíkurbjarg, famous for their birdlife.
