Looking for a swap for next Christmas / January / February for a ski chalet in Europe or USA.
We are a family of five, including our three boys at the ages of 8, 10 and 17. Our family home is located in the larger Reykjavik area, Garðabær, where there are local shops, restaurants and a heated swimming pool (incl. hot tubs and sauna) that will re-open this summer following renovations. Reykjavik city centre is only a 10 minute drive away. Our home as a family atmosphere, with two televisions, playstation, bikes and other necessities for kids. So families are welcome. There are four bedrooms, two bedrooms with king size beds and two bedrooms with single beds. So in total the house has sleeps for 6 people.
Married, with three boys at the ages of 8, 10 and 17.
I am a lawyer and my husband is a banker.
We are an active family that loves football, skiing, Crossfit as well as other active and healthy hobbies.
Garðabær is ideal for the enjoyment of outdoor life. It is a community rich in unspoiled nature, from Heiðmörk Nature Reserve in the east to Álftanes peninsula in the west. Within the town’s boundaries there is a variety of natural features, extraordinary lava formations and caves, as well as ancient remains.
Here you’ll find Hofsstaðir Archaeological Park, the remains of the second largest farm from the age of settlement in Iceland. Álftanes peninsula has a magnificent pastoral setting by the sea, a hiker’s paradise with trails around the shoreline and clear ponds bustling with migratory birdlife.
Álftanes is the ancient farmstead of Bessastaðir, the official residence of the president of Iceland.
One major attraction is Álftaneslaug thermal pool, featuring one of the largest waterslides in the country and Iceland’s only wave pool.
At Garðabær town centre in Garðatorg you’ll find small local shops, restaurants and services as well as The Museum of Design and Applied Art, which hosts various exhibitions presenting Icelandic design. Garðabær town also has a heated pool, featuring hot tubs and sauna.
