About our home

Our house was built 1934. On first floor there is a dining room you can walk from it to the garden(terasse), kitchen and living room, and a toilet. On the second floor are two bedrooms, in one of them is a queen size bed and a single in the other room and a bathroom, on the ground floor is room with two beds, there are a couple of spare mattresses if necessary,a toilet, and shower,. The garden is lovely to sit in in the warm weather.

More about us

Our names are Gunnar and SnjÃ³laug. Gunnar is a Sales Manager, I'am a graphic design and a teacher, the children are 16(boy) and 12(girl)called Venni end Elisabet. Gunnar is a music collector. We have a piano, computer, adsl! This is our first time to exchanged homes and we are sure it will be satisfactorily. A car is available in the right circumstances (an old but good Hyundai). We are willing to look after 1 or more pets. Cleaning can be arranged depending on dates and there is plenty of support available during your stay, should you want it. Because of the stairs, the house is not suitable for small children under 3.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Our house is build in 1934 and it is close to the centrum of ReykjavÃk although it is a quiet neighborhood, 3 - 5 minutes walk away from the town center and the harbour. Closest swimmingpool (VesturbÃ¦jarlaug) is 10 min to walk. 10-15. min. to the ocean walking path, and 20. min. more will lead you to Reykjavik beach Nautholfsvik with the water temperature of 20Â°C and the sand is white (very popular during summer). In area 101 we have lots of galleries and good restaurants. Closest golfcourse is 5. min. drive from our house (Seltjarnarnes). For a good mountainclimb there is mountain Esja (20. min. drive), very popular walk in Reykjavik.

We think that a visitor to Iceland should try to see some of the beautiful and quite unique nature we have in this country. A lot of interesting places can be covered by short trips by tourist buses or a car from Reykjavik, horseback riding, boat trips, hiking tours, air tours, arts, entertainments and whale watching.
