“We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Iceland. The country is different from anywhere we have been. While it is expensive, staying in someone's house makes it far more affordable as you can cook your main meals and not depend on restaurants. Look for the Happy Hours in bars downtown. The house like most Icelandic houses is quirky and interesting. Bus stop nearby was handy. You need to load an App on your phone to buy tickets. Well worth visiting the geothermal power station.”

About our home
WHEN AND WHERE WE WANT TO SWAP
We are looking for a LONG TERM SWAP in summer 2019, any destination, for preferably 2-3 MONTHS.
Our lovely home is a traditional Icelandic house, near the centre of Reykjavík. Coming up the front stairs, the first floor has a kitchen with all modern amenities, dining room with a large table, living room with large new smart TV, with Netflix, iPlayer, ITV player and more, and a large comfy sofa.
The living room opens up to a large patio with a sofa, from there you can walk down to our lovely garden where you can find a trampoline and a swing for the children.
The second floor has a bathroom with a shower and a bath. On the 2nd floor, there are also two bedrooms, one master bedroom with a large double bed (190*210) and the other bedroom with a small children's bed.
On the ground floor, you will find two bedrooms, both with double beds. The ground floor also has a washing room.
The living area is around 160 square meters.
THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
Our apartment is located in a nice quiet neighbourhood around 20 minutes walk from Reykjavik's city centre, where you will find lots of good restaurants, pubs and theatres, art galleries and shops.
The great swimming pool, "Vesturbæjarlaug", is only 15 minutes walk from here or 5 minutes by bus (#15). There is a "7/11" type of grocery store 3 minutes walk from here if you need something to bite but we recommend buying your groceries at Bónus, Krónan or Hagkaup or enjoy some of the nice restaurants downtown.
GETTING AROUND
The bus stop is just 2 minute from here (#15 and #12) which will take you downtown in just 5 minutes. Download the app Strætó / bus.is, and you can search for bus rides and buy bus tickets.
A taxi stand and car rentals are also close by either at BSI or the regional airport.
