Lake house with great mountain view

“This was a DREAM trip! Thorsteinn is one of the coolest, best hosts I've ever had the privilege to be in contact with. All instructions and communication were seamless, clear, and concise. At no point was I concerned about anything being amiss. The house is extremely well equipped with everything you may need, the heating system is A+++ and the hot tub experience is unmatched. I'm well into the second half of my trip and still wish I was waking up in their Lakehouse. Would highly recommend!!! I can't thank Thorsteinn and his family (and his Lakehouse) enough for making this experience better than I could have expected :) ”

“In a nutshell: perfect. Cosy house, dazzling view, amazing equipment... And in case that wasn't enough to convince you, on top of all this perfection: heartwarmingly caring hosts! Because of the COVID 19 situation, we weren't allowed to go shopping until we got our second test results back. Before we even got to figuring anything out, our hosts suggested to go shopping and then drop off all the food we needed before we even got there. How thoughtful! So that's what they did! Best quarantine of our lives, by far. ^^ If I'm 100% honest, I have to say I'm even a bit reluctant to leave this review because I'd like the place to be available when I want to go back! :D ”

“Amazing, Amazing, Amazing!!!! What more could we say about Thorsteinn and his gorgeous lake house!!! He was wonderful to deal with before and during our stay in Iceland. If we could give him six stars for everything, we would!!He did everything possible and much more to make our stay so fabulous.... we all can't stop thinking about his lake house and all our incredible memories!!! This Icelandic family lake home is located on the shore of a stunning lake and it over delivers in every respect! The layout follows the great open style of living and entertaining....all beautifully styled. The outdoor hot spring bath was perfect for that afternoon and evening indulgence. 1.5 hours drive from Reykjavik, the lake house is ideally suited to exploring lots of the near by natural wonders. This part of Iceland is incredible ....volcanic lava tubes, waterfalls, coastal drives , natural geothermal spas and a local brewery. We were so very fortunate to have the opportunity to stay in this absolute dream house swap .....every moment of every day since, we all wish we were back in the lake house.....thanks so, so, so much Thorsteinn for everything!!!!!!”

“We had a wonderful stay in this lovely, quiet lakefront home. Everything was perfect, spotlessly clean and was beautifully decorated. We absolutely loved this house! The location was perfect for exploring the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, Golden Circle, and a very easy drive to Reykjavik. Thorsteinn was very easy to communicate with, helped us plan our daily activities and gave us very detailed instructions on how to enjoy the Lakehouse. “Thorsteinn´s cabin is a dream!! Comfortable, warm, very nicely decorated, all commodities and activities beyond our expectations and gorgeous lake views and best spectacular sunset in Iceland! FIVE STAR CABIN! All rooms were ready and prepared with care and love for our arrival, perfect warm temperature, and we even had breakfast goodies in the fridge and fresh coffe for a delicious wake up in the first moring. Thorsteinn is an incredible host, ready to answer the least question and doubt, he lend his best fishing equipment to our husbands and left them gift toby blinks! We, wifes, enjoyed hot thermal jacuzzi at the terrace (with some wine glasses) and had bath robes in every room to wrap ourselves after the jacuzzi experience. Directions, activities and info about the area and day trips and tips about Iceland in a detailed written booklet that he sent to us prior to our arrival. We could not have better host, better experience and better welcome than that at Thorsteinn´s wonderful cabil. Thank you from our hearts for careing about our holidays as you did!!! Gladys”

“Thorsteinn cabin was just amazing. Perfectly located just less than 2h drive from the airport, far enough to be right in the lake with no sounds to bother. The cabin is really high quality (refitted with his own hands). The area has everything to enjoy the outdoors, lake, hiking, you name it. And also is very cosy and comfortable to stay inside to watch some movies at night during winter. Definitely a must. ”
