About our home

A beautiful and charming house, built in 1935, designed by the official city architect at that time, Einar Sveinsson and is in the very centre of downtown, but still in a quiet and beautiful area. It takes 5-6 min to walk to the parliament and city hall. On the first floor, there is a living space with a living room, a spacious kitchen, and a dining area with access to the garden. In the summer there is a table and chairs outside, a barbecue, a trampoline and it possible to play football. On the second floor are three bedrooms, two big ones and one small office with a single bed suitable for one adult or a child. The basement is not part of the exchange and has a separate entrance,. My daughter might be staying there during exchanges. We have two cats but if the guest wishes the cats can stay in the basement but might come in if doors or windows are open so not recommended to for people with cat allergy.

Where is it?

The location is lovely. The house is in the centre of town but still located off the beaten track and in a lovely residential area. It takes 5 minutes (according to google maps) to walk to the Parliament and the City hall. The best bakery in town is 8 minutes walking distance and the best outdoor swimming pool in town as well (voted the best in Reykjavik by travellers last year). 6 - 8 min to plenty of restaurants and cafés. 5 - 10 min. to the seaside. The area is a very charming one with typical houses from this period (1935). The area feels like a little village in the city.
