Our dream house was finalised in 2018, it feels somewhat like a mini resort. Its very suitable for families with children that can swim (we don’t have any pool gate).
The whole ground floor area and basement is for you to use. Two bedrooms are next to the pool. One of them with attached bathroom and tub. The other one with a bathroom with separate access. The third room with attached bathroom is also on ground floor inside the main house, near to the kitchen. You can use the kitchen that has everything one needs, for example a gas oven, slowcooking, breadmaker, microwave, kettle, and fliter coffee maker. We have a large play room with lot's of toys that you can use. There are 2 dinings tables, one large one that seats 10 people right next to the pool, and a 6 seater inside.
Food delivery service has become very easy now with apps like Swiggy, Zomato and for Groceries Big Basket. There are plenty of restaurants not too far away, although not in walking distance.
We keep all first floor as our own private space. Our own bedrooms are on the first floor in the main house. Our mother, who is very to herself, lives in a self-contained apartment on the first floor and have a seperate entrance. She is often not there as she often travels herself. When we do the swap, we would not be home ourselves, and we have 2 staff members; Ganesh who manages our home, and Suresha who cleans it. They can help you out with whatever you need and make you feel at home.
We're very relaxed, which one has to be living in India. We keep our house neat and clean, but not everything is perfectly finished or organised. Smoking can be done outside, we have lot's of outdoor space.
We are an Indian-Dutch couple with 2 active daughters of almost 8 and 5 years old, and Srinath's friendly mother. Our dog Freddy and cat Pussy are also part of our family.
Srinath is a flat racing jockey and travels all over the country. Janneke is a part-time Leadership Development Consultant and has co-founded an alternative school in Mysore.
We love travelling and just found out about this website. We’re curious to see how many people might want to come to Mysore!
We’re in Vijayanagar 1st stage, near to Kodawa Samaj. It’s a quiet suburb with the exception of marriage halls sometimes playing loud music (never beyond 10pm nor longer than a few hours). We have bicycles you can use to explore, but be warned Mysore is not very flat so it’s pretty tiring. If you download the Ola or Uber app you can get around with auto rickshaw or cab very easily. We’re about 5-10 mins away from Gokulam where most yoga students are.
