About our home

THE WANTILAN (the Lumbermill)

The Wantilan is a great Balinese style holiday-address at the Northern coast. The house is situated in the desa Tejakula, 25 km east of Singaraja, 50 meter from the beach of the Bali-sea. With a surface of 300 m2 (two floors) The Wantilan is suitable for four people.
GROUND FLOOR: big open living/kitchen area (100 m2) with an attached inner garden (50 m2) and Jacuzzi, garden room/bedroom with en-suite half open bathroom (55 m2). King-size beds and ceiling-fans.
FIRST FLOOR: large open bedroom with en-suite bathroom (55 m2).

The village Tejakula is one of the oldest settlements in the North of Bali. The surroudings are well known by photographers, due to the rather strong light intensity, especially at dawn and dusk. The name “Tejakula”” comes from this phenomen: “teja = light/glow”, “kula” = us/village, so “the-village-with-the-beautiful-light”. Tejakula is by no means a touristic place, on the contrary, its charm draws firstly from the Balinese culture and tradition, specially a tradition in Dance and Music.

THE WANTILAN is offering several options for a perfect holiday (min 3 nights):

+ for SunLovers: for people who needs a good rest, enjoy the beautiful nature and the Indonesian kitchen, while using the service of our staff to guarantee your rest and privacy. Staff consists of four: Komang housekeeping, Nyoman gardener (maintaining the private pool of 5 x 11 m and the indoor Jacuzzi), Ibu Ratna (our excellent cook) and Ketut nightguard. Ask the staff to organize a Balinese massage for you right at home.

+ for Walkers: take a walk at the beachside, our neighbors are fisherman, buy a tuna early in the morning, right from a small boat (“jukung”) and enjoy this fish the same evening, fish cannot be more fresh. Or take a twenty-minutes-morning-walk to the local market and don’t forget your camera. Or visit the historical wash place in the middle of Tejakula, used to be the old horse washing place. Or put on your flippers/snorkel to explore the coral in the Bali Sea, right in front of the door.

+ for BaliTravellers: go for a trip to Ubud, Bedugul, the waterfall in Gitgit or the Besakih temple, our English speaking driver is your guide. Visit the wonderful musea on Bali (NEKA, BLANCO, the ARMA museum) and don’t forget a visit to the central market in Ubud.

Since september 2014 our house is for rent, for more information please see photo twelve.
