About our home

Architecture and design:

This cozy wooden house was designed in 2014 by my husband and I to start our new life as a family and as artists in Bali. Using reclaimed wood sourced from Java and Bali, we had design the house using antique materials but with a contemporary twist. Our home is airy and allows in plenty of sunlight. There is one large bed room with two queen size beds separated by a curtain divider and walk in wardrobe. Our toilet is semi-outdoor with a little garden inside and is equipped with rain shower. In the front is a large studio space with a refrigerator and a bar.

For art lovers:

My husband and I are both artists and we travel around the world frequently, being invited to participate in artist in residence programs. Our home is filled with the painting and artworks of Kabul (www.budiagungkuswara.com) and of other contemporary artists. If you enjoy art, our home is perfectly located for your interests. In Batubulan, you will be close to the studios of many other artists, as well as with the workshops of artisans in Mas and Sukawati. We are located just a 40 minutes ride to the main museums in Ubud.

Being close to nature:

We have Balinese style garden together with an organic vegetable patch on the side growing chili, egg plant, ladies fingers, lime, spinach and other greens. There is a large honey-mango tree that provides shade to the garden and in sometimes of the year sweet mango harvest. There is also a jackfruit tree in the car park as well as bilimbi tree at the back. We have a barbeque pit where we enjoy barbeque sessions outdoors with our family and friends.

Away from the tourist areas, enjoy living like a local:

Batubulan, located outside all of the tourist districts of Bali. You will get to enjoy living like local in this suburban town but still get access to the modern conveniences. There is a 24 hours convenient shop just a 5 minute walk from our home. There is also warungs (eateries) and a supermarket in just walking distance.

We are also located 40 minutes away from Ubud where you can enjoy the rice terraces and 30 minutes from Sanur beach. For surfers, Keramas beach is just a 20 minutes ride from our home. The international airport is an hour drive from our home. Our location is easily access by transport applications like Uber, Grabcar and Gojek that will help you save a lot of cost moving around in Bali.
