About our home

Our home is in the heart of rural Bali surrounded by rice fields but only just 30 minutes to the very popular and vibrant area of Canggu which is considered an exceptional surfing spot with wonderful beach clubs, an amazing variety of excellent places to eat and good shopping options. And just 20 kilometres away is the vibrant heart of Seminyak for amazing shopping, restaurants and nightlife ! Ubud is a 40 minute drive and a must do for any visitor to Bali, ancient temples, famous art galleries, the palace and traditional dance performances being just some of the attractions.
The drive to Bedugul, just 1 hour away, takes you past the beautiful and UNESCO listed rice fields of Jati Luwih where time stands still farmers still use hand ploughs pulled by bullocks. On to Bedugul and the temple on the lake, one of the most stunningly beautiful temples in Bali situated in a volcano crater.
Closer to home are the butterfly park, the beautiful Taman Ayu water palace, the monkey forest, the original palace of Tabanan regency at Kerembitan as well as many traditional markets and the views of multiple terraced rice fields as you travel in the area.
The list of things to do and see in Bali is endless and varied but we always love returning home to the peaceful serenity of our home and the comforts it provides. Situated just 50 Mtrs from the beach we enjoy long walks on the shoreline beach combing for shells and driftwood with our dogs and watching the traditional fishing boats returning with a varied catch of fish and lobsters. The river Ho runs at the bottom of the garden and there are always fishermen to be seen on the riverbanks with a line in the water and the occasional traditional brightly colored traditional canoe passing by. From the front terrace you can enjoy a sunset drink watching the sun slip into the ocean with a backdrop of the volcanos at the southern end of Java and from the rear balcony you can watch the sunrise each morning with wonderful views of the surrounding fields, the coconut grove opposite and Mt. Batu Karu in the distance.
We have 4 staff looking after us, our pets and our villa, who will also look after anyone we exchange with.
There are multiple and spacious living areas on both levels of the house both inside and outside including a lovely bale on the roof terrace that catches all the on shore sea breezes. All the rooms are cooled by ceiling fans and the 2 bedrooms also have air conditioning. There are 2 bathrooms, a library room,a wonderful pool right next to the main living area and 2 kitchen areas.

Since then we have moved to Bali, built our new home and started to immerse ourselves in Bali life ! We love to travel meet people and experience new cultures and cities.

  2. We are interested in longer term swaps anything from 2 to 4 weeks at a time.

  3. We are looking for swaps that offer a similar standard of accomodation to our own home.

Where is it?

Our area is known as the rice bowl of Bali because of the lush surrounding agricultural land traditionally used to grow rice. The area is one of the prettiest in Bali and considered to be one of outstanding importance because of the many original temples and villages that retain the authentic Balinese traditions and rural way of life.
A walk or cycle through the rice fields nearby will not only keep you busy responding to all the friendly waving and smiling from the workers in the fields but also give you a glimpse into a way of life that has remained unchanged for hundreds of years.
The nearest town of Kerembitan has a beautiful old palace that was historically the seat of government for the area and is still regularly used for traditional dances.
Close by is the stunning Pura Taman Ayun, the water palace, definitely a must see.
There are several traditional markets close by where the locals shop, and a short drive north takes you to the spiritual hub of Bali, Ubud.
The tourist hub of Seminyak with an amazing array of shops, restaurants, spas and nightclubs is 20 kilometres away and easily visited for a day or two.
For golf lovers the stunningly beautiful Handara golf course is situated an hours drive away and Tanah Lot temple is a 30 minute drive away.
The beaches on this part of the coast are exceptionally beautiful and unspoilt, and close by are some of the very best surfing spots !
