About our home

Our family home located on the south side of the river Lee in the beautiful city of Cork is the perfect base to explore the bustling city, vibrant nightlife, and breathtaking scenery of West Cork and beyond. Cork is renowned for it's culture, architecture and most of all it's diversity and mouth watering food. Our home has 5 double bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, spacious living room, dining room, large fully equipped kitchen with 5 burner hob and double ovens, laundry room with large capacity washing machine and dryer and 2nd bright and airy reception room with vaulted ceiling and french doors that leads to a well maintained garden. To the front of the house there is a driveway with parking for 2 cars. Our home is in the perfect location to explore Cork city which is within a 10 min stroll. There you will find great restaurants, bars, attractions, city parks, UCC and everything else our great city has to offer. We are also within a half hour of beautiful beaches, Kinsale renowned for gastronomy, the Jameson Distillery at Midleton, Blarney Castle and of course if you wish to venture a little further you will reach the rugged coastline of west Cork with spectacular scenery within an hours drive. Cork airport located 7Km (4.3 miles) from house off the South Link Road Network.

More about us

  1. We are a family of 4. my kids are 12 and 15 years old

  2. My husband and I are both self employed in Ireland. We both spent many years living in Boston before moving home to our native Ireland.

  3. Our main residence is in Cork city though we do also spend as much time as we can at our home in the South of France. Cork is a great cosmopolitan city though it has it's beginnings as a monastic settlement, founded by St Finbar in the sixth century. However, the ancestor of the modern city was founded between 915 and 922, when Viking settlers established a trading community so Cork is steeped in history. There is so much to do and see and I highly recommend the cork city walking trails, food trails and the jazz trails during our famous Guinness Jazz Festival held annually. The Wild Atlantic Way is a spectacular drive that runs along the rugged coastline with breathtaking views. Though Cork is our first love we do also enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and culture of the spectacular South of France hence buying a holiday home in the medieval area of Carcassonne. Our home is situated in the beautiful village of Trebes on the canal du midi. One can stroll to the bars and restaurants or take a local bus from the end of the street into the city of Carcasonne where you can enjoy both a french and spanish influence. There are also many splendid vineyards nearby to explore and taste some of the best wines in the world. The Medieval La Cite is one for both young and old....stroll through the cobbled streets and browse through the shops where you can buy local artisan products or just relax in one of the many bars and restaurants. There are also many free open air concerts during the summer months in Carcassonne so well worth googling before your trip.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Blackrock is an exclusive area within walking distance of bustling Cork City. My house is located in a quiet cul du sac with just 13 detached homes. Great family neignbourhood close to all amenities, including city centre shops, bars, restaurants, parks, marina walks. We are close to major road networks and the airport is a mere 7Km away.

Buzzy restaurants
Cork is known for it's diverse range of culinary treats. There are many restaurants to choose from whether you are looking for luscious seafood, pub grub, indian, mexican, french, chinese, thai and pretty much anything else you might crave. The city is spoilt for choice when it comes to restaurants.
Cool bars
There are many cool bars in cork city where you can enjoy a pint of Cork's local stout Murphy's and listen to some cool traditional music or you can visit the hip Victorian Quarter and sample some not so traditional bars. If you are looking for good music Crane Lane which is a late night bar is definitely the place to visit.
Cozy cafés
Cork cafes offer some of the best locally roasted coffees and sweet treats. You won't have to walk far to find a coffee shop as they are of abundance.
Retail therapy
Cork city, Douglas and Mahon Point Shopping Centre all offer international brands. If you are looking for Designer then look no further than Brown Thomas where you have everything from Gucci to Michael Kors. Of course, we have Penny's (Primark) if you want to find yourself some great bargains.
Walks in the park
If a walk in the park is your thing then I highly recommend a stroll in Fitzgerald's Park in the centre where you can enjoy a coffee or take in the museum. If your lucky enough there may also be some entertainment taking place which occurs throughout the summer months.
Spot of exercise
If you want to get your work out in whilst staying at my property what better place to go for a walk or run than the marina walk. There are also many state of the art gyms at local hotels nearby that offer good rates. There is also a rowing machine and vibro plate in the house that can be used.
Day tripping
Cork city is a great base for exploring the rugged wild atlantic way. We are also very close to Blarney Castle where legend has it that if you 'kiss' the blarney stone you will have the gift of the gab for evermore. Killarney is also high on my list of recommendations as it is only 1 hour drive away and the scenery is as breathtaking as the wild atlantic way. Middleton Distillery home of Jameson Whiskey is within a 20 min drive of the city. Lots to do and lots to see all very close by,
