We think our house is a nice place to live with all the modern conveniences. It is a modern bungalow in quiet, spacious surroundings.
There is a garden and plenty of parking space. We have a cat called "Mandy" who lives outside but given a chance is happy to make herself at home in the house.
For anyone interested we have a piano, my brother and his family live about 10 kilometers away and are always there if there is a problem.
We have nice neighbours who are also willing to be of help.

More about us

  1. Hi Exchangers,
My name is Frank and my wifes name is Mary. We are in our early sixties and intend to retire in a couple of years. I am a Trainer with the National Training Authority in industrial automation and Mary is an Nanny and has 2 children in her care. In our own family, we have two children, they are both married and live away from home, between them we have seven little grandsons. We are both lucky in that we share interests in reading, travel, walking and generally exploring. I am interested in computers and model engineering with a passion for military history.
We have already experienced two exchanges and found it very rewarding. We appreciated the effort made by exchangers and were in turn gratified to find that our own efforts were acknowledged.

Where is it?

Our house is located on a quiet road in a prime amenity area. Surrounding us are many forest and riverside walks. Wildlife abound which includes deers, badgers sometimes we see rabbits. A short distance further (perhaps 3 kilometers) you can walk or cycles on the tow paths of the Royal Canal which goes all the way to Dublin. The local town, Ballymahon is about the same distance away and includes a fine supermarket. Further away (about 8 kilometers) is Lough Ree, a lake on the river Shannon, popular for boating and fishing. On the road to Athlone which is a fine provincial town with all the amenities one would expect (about 18 kilometers)away is the village of Glasson with a number of fine restaurants and an excellent golf course and marina.
A little bit further down the Shannon is the early monastic settlement of Clonmacnoise with its defensive round towers.
Ballymahon is centrally located with Dublin just over an hour and Galway about an hour and a half away.
We are blessed with good neighbours and they are more than happy to facilitate the settling in of our guests.
For those of a literary bent, the writer, Oliver Goldsmith, was born in Pallas, a small village about 3 kilometers away.
