About our home

Our home is warm and comfortable with all modern comforts, located on a hillside, just 200m from the village of Baltinglass and the Slaney River. Our garden has beautiful views of the Wicklow hills, our historic town and the lush rural surrounding countryside. The garden is fully enclosed & gated, has a patio with open-fire stone barbeque and dining table.
We have a large open plan kitchen-dining with patio doors to the garden, a large comfortable sitting room with open fire and TV. We also have another large recreation room with large TV with playstation & wii, gym/exercise machines, two double sofa beds, fussball etc. Lots of toys for younger kids if required also. We have 4 bedrooms - master with king-sized bed & en-suite, 3 childrens bedrooms (one with double bed and two with single bed).
Our house is located in a quiet small development of bungalows with a safe communal open play area in the centre, full of children in summer. We are situated just 200m from the village centre with shops, cafe, pubs and restaurants. Our house, garden and neighbourhood are all very child friendly.

More about us

  1. We are a family of five with a 19 year old son and two girls aged 17 and 14 - this year we will be travelling without our son so only four of us. I am Una, an engineer from Ireland and my husband Dane is from California and is an architectural designer. We are experienced exchangers having enjoyed eight wonderful swaps so far to France, Spain and the USA.
For 2019 we would love two swaps - Croatia or Montenegro for August and southern europe anywhere for the easter or october school holidays. (An alpine ski location anytime!). Surprise us....

  2. We are animal lovers and have a dog who is seven years old and very sweet - we can arrange for him to be minded by friends if you do not want animals. We are happy to mind the pets of our house swap partners.

  3. We lived abroad and travelled extensively before and since having our family. We love the outdoors especially camping, hill-walking, skiing, cycling, golfing, the beach, heat and sunshine, hammocks and reading.

Where is it?

Baltinglass is a small friendly market town nestled in the valley of the River Slaney in the Wicklow hills, with cafe's, restaurants, lively pubs, a golf course and a riverside park with a childrens playground. The town has the beautiful ruins of an old abbey by the river as well as a megalithic tomb atop Baltinglass hill, which forms the view from our house. We are located in a great area for hill & forest walking with the Wicklow mountains on our doorstep, offering fabulous wild or path trekking. The rural area around the town is also fun for cycling and fishing is a popular past-time here. Baltinglass Outdoor education offers great courses for children to introduce them to the amenities on our doorstep as well as rock-climbing, absailing and orienteering.
We are in the centre of golf country here with the 18 hole Baltinglass golf course on the hill above town (you can see it from our front garden); Rathsallagh golf course 15 minutes away; Tulfarris overlooking the lakes 30mins, the K Club (Ryder cup course) 40 mins and The Mount Wolselsey Hilton course only 20 minutes away - all accept green fees for non-members. We have a set of adult clubs and one childs set which you may use.
We are centrally located for touring around Ireland - Glendalough (round tower) 50 minutes, Kilkenny (medieval city)40 mins, Wexford and Wicklow beaches 1 hour, Dublin 1 hour, Waterford 1 hour 15 minutes and Galway/Cork both 2.5 hours. We are located 30 minutes from the scenic Blessington Lakes, sailing schools and the lovely Russborough House.
