Neighbourhood

Glebe House is located in the quiet town of Banagher, which is built on the majestic River Shannon. Banagher is rich in history and has a charm all of its own. Its central location makes it ideal for all touring enthusiasts. It's main attractiveness is it's beautiful landscape, rivers, natural boglands, and lush green countryside. With the Rivers' Shannon and Brosna, Lough Derg, Lough Ree and the Grand Canal nearby, it's an anglers paradise!
The Shannon and its tributaries provide opportunities for cruising, sailing, canoeing, fishing and birdwatching while the mountains, eskers, bogs and farmland offer a variety of scenery and landscapes for walking, climbing, horseriding, cycling or driving. The land and rivers are unspoilt, the traffic moderate and most importantly, the people in the countryside, towns and villages are friendly.
Banagher is surrounded by a number of Golf courses. Birr is one of the finest parkland courses in the country carved out of natural woodlands and eskers and is only five miles away. Portumna, Athlone, Tullamore, Ballinalsoe are all within 20 miles. Mount Juliet, venue for the Irish Open, is only 40 miles away. Visitors are given a warm "Cead Mile Failte." ('100,000 welcomes' in Gaelic).
