About our home

Come and explore beautiful West Cork in Ireland and experience a real Irish welcome in this scenic corner of the country!

Our home is a detached house on an elevated site overlooking the picturesque River Bandon valley. It is located 2 kms from the vibrant market town of Bandon and offers an ideal base for a couple or family to explore West Cork and beyond.
Our house is a modern, clutter-free, bright and airy 5-bedroom bungalow. It offers beautiful rural views and a peaceful environment to relax in. We have an open-plan kitchen/dining/ living room that opens via patio doors onto a split-level deck. The deck is fully enclosed and gated making it a very safe area for young children to play in or for grown-ups to sit and relax in while enjoying the view.
This is our family home however non-simultaneous exchanges, hospitality and varied lengths of stay are possible as we have a separate apartment on our property that we can move in to.

More about us

We are a married couple with two boys aged 11 and 16. My husband is as Math teacher and I am a Senior IT Business Architect. We are an active family who like to be outdoors as much as possible when the weather permits!
Our boys are well travelled and respectful of the people/cultures we encounter. I can assure you that they will treat any exchange home we should be fortunate to stay in with the utmost care and respect.
We completed our first home exchange during Summer 2013 and have had a number of successful exchanges since then. So far, we have found home exchange to be a really positive experience!

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Ideally located as a touring base, Bandon (referred to as the ‘Gateway to West Cork’) is a small agricultural town (population of approx 6,000) that offers many historical points of interest to visitors and residents alike. It provides easy access to West Cork towns/villages such as Clonakilty, Timoleague, Schull, Bantry, Baltimore & Skibbereen.
While quiet and peaceful, our house is only a 30 minute drive away from Cork City. The maritime town of Kinsale, recognized as being the Gourmet Capital of Ireland, and several beautiful sandy beaches are only a 20-30 minute drive away.
You cannot come to Cork without visiting the historic Blarney Castle and its famous Stone only 40 minutes away. Folklore claims that if you kiss the Blarney Stone, you will be granted the ‘gift of the gab’!

The nearest airport is Cork (13 miles); the nearest international airport is Shannon (75 miles).
