About our home

the Farmhouse is an old stone farmhouse totally refurbished in recent years.
The accommodation and outside space, are set in tranquil and secluded gardens down a quiet country lane leading, in a few minutes amble, to a safe and secluded beach.
It is an ideal base for exploring south west Ireland and this section of the Wild Atlantic Way. Although driving distances are always much longer in Ireland than the maps suggest, everywhere from Killarney in Kerry to the north and Blarney Castle north of Cork City to the east is accessible by easy day trip.
Activities right on the doorstep include whale watching, sea-fishing, sailing, wreck-diving, swimming and snorkeling, surfing, kayaking, night-kayaking, walking tours, cycling and, on certain days of the year, challenging adventure races. Cultural activities include numerous art galleries, the West Cork Arts Centre and the Famine Heritage Centre in Skibbereen, the Mizen Head visitors centre, numerous castles and stately homes. There are several golf clubs in the vicinity, most with sea views, equestrian centres, sailing clubs, a gym in Skibbereen, lots of marked walking and cycling routes of varying degrees of difficulty. For the gourmet, West Cork is foodie heaven. In addition to the fantastic collection of local artisan food producers on show at the Farmers Market in Skibbereen each weekend there are fantastic restaurants all over the area including The Good Things Cafe, Pilgrims, Deasy's, and Haveli.
